In other news my girlfriend said some dude built a kicker above 50 in the forbidden zone and did a backflip over the road, apparently the chp and Caltrans where there waiting to arrest/cite him, did not hear if he got caught or not

Thin, but easily passable on the old roads.

If it's the same incident I saw via a friend's Instagram earlier, that was Josh Daiek throwing the backflip over the road and the Caltrans guy was stoked and took his own video. lol... didn't see any CHP in the pictures. Pro photographer on scene so maybe we'll see it in Powder next year.

You the group we saw at the pass in the morning, one of my buds recognized A few patroller faces in that crew as we skinned by.

Josh makes sense, apparently he went huge, maybe had permission since chp and Caltran was on sight

It looked massive. I guess on the first try Josh's skis blew apart on the landing so he had to use someone else's for the next attempt.

Someone was willing to lend him theirs after he blew up his? Seems unwise but I guess it's a chance to be part of history.

Well, if you go out the night before to help build the jump, I guess you're somewhat invested at that point. Pretty sure Josh could hook him up with another pair from Salomon if it didn't work out.

Guy from lift ops flipped his snowmobile just above the well-populated KT lift line yesterday. Adding to the ignominy--a snowboarder helped him right it. Wonder if he had to buy beers for the crew.

Great day at Squaw today. Big props to neufox for guiding. Guy rips!

The Donner family sure picked a pretty sport to spend the winter even though it did not work out so well for some of them.

If anyone is looking I booked a decently priced condo in South Lake Tahoe for Friday night-Sunday. Have a few open beds. Probably ski Kirkwood both days, maybe heavenly Saturday. Also have some spots in my car coming up from San Jose/Fremont.

Always stoked to meet new Mags if anyone needs a ride, place to stay, or ski buddy

Paid less than $70 today for a lift ticket at one of the last of the independent ski hills in the Basin.
Buddy of mine, who is a cancer survivor, called me last night and asked if I was working today and if I wanted to ski.
I've actually been so burnt from work that I have not been freeskiing on my days off (for shame, I know), but since it was his first day back on sticks in over a year I couldn't refuse.
Virtually nobody in the parking lot at 8:30 except racer kids and OG locals.
We spent the morning lapping a section of the hill that nobody else seemed interested in. It was what I call "hopscotch" pow, in that every other turn was fresh. Most of the mountain was like that, which was fun as the runs were like fluffy moguls with pow stashes on the back of each bump.
Skied non-stop til noon, took a break for brews (the hill earns mad props for serving primarily local brews: Alibi, Revision, Shoe Tree, Lead Dog) and then skied for another hour apres lunch.
    Buddy was stoked.
    So was I.
    Good day indeed.

Forecast is looking interesting the next few days...saying 4-degrees here in Truckee tonight! Then (potentially wet) snow Fri/Sat and scattered next week and the week after.

^^^does your work contract forbids you from mentioning the resorts name?

Glad you had a good day. Sucks when work sucks your passion. Part of the reason I don’t cook professionally anymore. That and the shit wages.

    Naw.
I'm just afraid if I mentioned the name then all the non-local kooks would start going there and turn it into Squaw.

How smart would it be to hit up Squaw in hopes that silvy opens tomorrow instead of hitting a coveted bc line while conditions are prime?

This is a rhetorical question, right?
