Don’t overtrain. Big thing is are you prepared to walk?

Just work on flexibility and balance when you can’t practice full swings. This has helped me immensely.

I just got the annual shoulder-season-specials email from Bandon and I think I might be heading that way the last week of Feb.

~$900 total for 3 nights lodging, 3 rounds golf, breakfast and dinner each day. Cant really beat that anywhere...right?

That's good deal. Even the cheapest room at Bandon Dunes Resort is nice.

Do you enjoy playing in the rain and 20 mph winds?

Stop me if you've heard this before...........

MacDermott and MacDuff were sitting in the clubhouse, in front of the fireplace on a raw, blustery day. The freezing rain was beating against the windows as their beards thawed out. Outside, the wind from the North Sea roared with gale force. The pair were silent for a long time over their whiskeys. Finally, MacDermott spoke, "That was quite a round of golf. Same time next Saturday ?" "Aye," MacDuff replied, "weather permitting."
A few people feel the rain. Most people just get wet.

Today was brutal, 20-45 mph winds, 40-45 degrees. Fun though, it’s always fun. Click image for larger version.

After a several year hiatus, I’m finally rejoining a crew that goes to Bandon every year (they rebook when they are there). We used to do the package you’ve described, but now they do it a la carte and say it’s cheaper than the package. It may be because the package includes fancy dinner pricing that not all the guys want. Maybe make some calls to find out?

    Some things to work on

Cupped left wrist- easy fix now that I see it.

Casting a wee bit - see above ?

Put more "squat" in my stance - Could be a super senior fitness issue.

Rt elbow looks good. Good shoulder turn. The shot went straight and true but the follow through was forced Follow through should be a free ride IME.

kid is out of whack so no skiing but i played my first golf in 2 months. i'm a little sore but all in all did some good things, hit some fat shots that didn't injure me and had a good time on a leisurely 9.

Fat / Thin shots usually means your head is moving. But why? I used to train by taking slo mo practice swings in the yard with a sun behind me and watch the shadow of my head. Hauling the BetaMax and a tripod out to the yard was too much of a pain in the ass.

played 14 today, played hole 9 with uncle cliffy, former trailblazer. he hit into me once a couple months ago -- not his fault, really -- super nice guy. plays a lot.

i played ok. I feel like I have an ugly inconsistent swing plus a fear of jacking my shoulder again so it may take a while. 50 yesterday, 50 today, different courses. putting and chipping have been pretty solid but everything else feels foreign after a 2 month break.

Best part of paying to play is getting to meet new people IMO. Temps in the 50's and I played about 1 mile of golf with a 6 iron and 2 balls. Reacting to my video I got into my stance like I was going to sit on a bar stool. Squatier. More weight on my heels. Ball striking was a 9 out of 10 on the sweet spot. Direction was off but kind of consistent. Not concerned. Back swing was somehow naturally slower. My wife had some game improvement foot surgery and after 5 weeks got the cast off today . Rehab will be walking the course while I help her get her swing back. If she lets me.
