There are some side effects from the drug, the coordination and neuromuscular issues that I've mentioned before and some minor weight gain, but nothing compared to chemo or radiation. For now she's just a normal happy and healthy 6 y.o.
Amazing. Lots of great stories out there of survival, including Ruby's.

^ Yup. So sorry for your loss, Kenny. Some of the best people get the worst of this disease.

I always have to click in for Ruby updates, thanks for bringing them, Dan!

Thread just reminded me I need to make an appointment to lose my chemo port. Just got a scan for Thanksgiving: 18 months without stomach/cancer. Wahoo!

Such highs, and lows. Only thing about being ill that's positive is that it'll make you appreciate what you have, and what you can lose. Sorry to hear your diagnosis, MS. Chin up!

Im 9 years cancer free but it is always in the back of my mind. I'm lucky they cut it off me and I've been good no chemo or radiation. Feel bad even saying I had it in light of the struggles so many have. With that said FUCK CANCER.

And thanks for the reminder I need to get back to the derm to scope for more funky moles

Thanks for sharing. You might be interested in to know that in the last nine years new drugs and drug combos have been developed for metastatic melanoma that have dramatically improved the odds of surviving the disease. It's a huge success story in the burgeoning field of immuno-oncology and was the basis of research for the Nobel recipients this year.

Took my wife, Jennifer, to the emergency room yesterday. Thought she might be having a stroke. Turns out the cancer has migrated to her brain. Swelling from lesions acted like a stroke. I'm going to hospital shortly to meet with the radiologist. Caught early. So far so good.

It is! Going to radiologist on Monday for a treatment plan. Think they can get it all with the new technology. 6 lesions to take care of. More chemo after that.

    FUCK Canceer in the ASS!

My homie Johnny (founder North Coast Biologics) posted this earlier today:

"I got news last night that one of my cancer patients with terminal colorectal cancer is now tumor-free!! After his oncologist stopped treatment upon running out of options, it appears that a tumor vaccine that I made for him (along with three boosts) began it's slow climb to efficacy. I was informed last night that his scans are negative!!! I will check his memory B-cells for tumor-specific antibodies that he himself has made against his own tumor and these antibodies may be useful for others and will provide info to determine if his vaccine might elicit immunity to people who haven't been so lucky as to get me a sample. I am forever tied to this person as I will be ready if any "escape mutants" happen to rear their ugly head(s). But on this day I claim victory even though you never know what tomorrow might bring. Bittersweet for those I wasn't able to help simply because I was initially too apprehensive to do this. But sometimes you have to do what is ethically right when you have tools that nobody else has."

I worked with Johnny many (MANY) years ago to help his first company get off the ground. He's appears to have made some progress since those early days. He's been working for a long time on ways to mobilize one's immune system to aggressively fight tumorigenesis Very, very happy for him, as well as his patients, present and future.

That sounds like good news! We have last and longest radiation treatment today.

I have never looked at this thread. I hope you heal up 100% MS.
Never in U.S. history has the public chosen leadership this malevolent. The moral clarity of their decision is crystalline, particularly knowing how Trump will regard his slim margin as a “mandate” to do his worst. We’ve learned something about America that we didn’t know, or perhaps didn’t believe, and it’ll forever color our individual judgments of who and what we are.
