Thanks, that's good news, yeah there was some ridiculous wind right before you made your trip. 80mph type stuff. My specific question is if I can bogart some sled rides and laps before public open time :P

Decent snow so far at Vail. Wind was really blowing it around, too. Winds forecast to switch to WNW tomorrow, so hope we can milk that.
Good to hear about Monarch I hope to be in the trees there on Friday.
Also, Berthoud should be pretty consistent and filled in by now I hope

Last thursday, upper east face to a southern line into the gully. Wind buff up high, hot pow on the south facing stuff. Adventure skiing through the trees to get back to the trailhead but thankfully just enough snow and slope to cover the deadfall and keep it moving. Imagine none of that really applies after the new snow and wind that are coming through right now.

Finally Ullr delivered a storm that wasn't on the dreaded NW flow. Thanks Ullr

Heading to the Opus Hut on Thursday night, if anyone has any beta. Don't personally know anyone who's been there.
Current plan: wife picks me up from Denver airport at 8 pm on Wednesday with the car packed, we drive to Salida and crash on my brother's couch. Hope to be asleep by midnight. Wake up 5 am Thursday morning, drive to Silverton, skin in, ski till dark. I try not to die coming from sea level. Friday, we tour all day; brother drives back to Salida to work the weekend; wife and I have an Airbnb in Ouray for Friday and Saturday nights an, depending on conditions and what wife remembers to pack/can fit into the car, we plan to tour, ski inbounds at Purgatory (three free days via LL pass), or maybe ice climb in Ouray. Drive back to Denver Sunday night for my flight Monday morning.

I've never stayed at the Opus but have toured through the area quite a bit. It is a great spot and reports are of great skiing lately.Current plan: wife picks me up from Denver airport at 8 pm on Wednesday with the car packed, we drive to Salida and crash on my brother's couch. I'm guessing your itinerary is non-flexible but it seems a bit weird. Only one day skiing at the hut with a couple hour skin in & out? Stay in Ouray and drive over Red everyday to ski Purg? Why not stay in Silverton? Why not ski Silverton?
Anyways. Sounds awesome but it just seems like skiing might not be maximized.
Despite coming from sea level, auvgeek and his wife are fitter than the average bear. Especially since Opus is pretty much full service now and you basically only need to bring a daypack, going there for one night doesn't seem crazy.
I'm with Foggy though, ski Silverton instead of Purg. Or tour on Red Mtn Pass. Driving back and forth between Ouray and Purg would suck, especially if it's snowing.
Check out Orvis Hot Springs.
