Somehow, yet another PSA 8.5" pistol kit ended up wrapped and under the tree.

I've got 5 stripped receivers in .556, two build 556's and one .308 built receiver in the stash now. Waiting on post Christmas sales.

I'm kind of intrigued with the PCCs. Do the PSA Glock variety work well for you? Any opinions on the CMMG pseudo-roller-delay thing? I'm thinking super-quiet always suppressed toy, and I go back and forth between a 9mm PCC and a shorty 300blk, either of which would wear an Obsidian 45.

*edit* Stuck in airports last night - no sleep - Just realized you didn't mention caliber for the Christmas kit. My bad.

    I have a .300 BO pistol kit assembled8.5" barrel; this one is 5.56 w/ 8.5" barrel.

I'm having a 700 Remington in .308 built with a can. Hopefully it will switch over between the two.

Any opinions on an Eotech red dot + magnifier? Looking for that or similar, hoping to not break the bank.

Decisions decisions. Looks like I wait for deals.

Eotech + G33 comes to about $1k and 22 oz. That buys a lot of LPVO. Something like a Leupold VX6 in a nice mount is a direct competitor on both metrics. LPVOs are a whole can of worms.

I'm a big fan of the G33. The flip mount works well (as does the quick detach lever), and it's way better than Aimpoint's twist-detach mounts. The Aimpoint magnifiers are way more expensive.

If you have issues with astigmatism and the Eotech in general (Eotechs are holographic, different than straight red dots), that'll get worse with the magnifier. It's not as bad if you go with a red dot and the magnifier. I have pretty good eyesight and minimal issues with astigmatism, but it's enough to prefer an Aimpoint T2/G33 to an Eotech EXPS-3/G33. The Eotech reticle is quicker (for me) to pick up than a red dot if that matters to you. The Aimpoint is much lighter (5.5ish oz with LT660 vs ~11 for the EXPS). If you do go Eotech/magnifier route, make sure you get the version with the buttons on the side. The magnifier makes it hell to get to the buttons on the back.

If it's just a range gun (and you have targets well beyond the typical 100 yds), I'd probably go the LPVO route. A reticle with holds adds that much more utility, and you can buy stuff with way more than 3x magnification. If you want to toss it in a truck with the intention of possibly using it for quick short range stuff, you might like the red dot or holographic, and the magnifier will make it more useful for longer range things (presumably at the range).

    What's it going on?

The Trijicon VCOG® is pretty sweet but with what they cost I only have one.

I see the cost of similar systems for less though.

I have an elcan spectre clone which is a cool idea but that set up is too heavy.

Anyone in particular usually have good sales? I bought a receiver on a whim last year and have been keeping and eye out for good deals. Didn't see much around BF/cyber Monday, but was also in the dark ages at camp that week.

Every year seems to be getting more and more civil around my neighborhood. Only about 5-6 people nearby emptied magazines in the air at midnight this time. Twenty years ago it was dozens, and went on for well over an hour (not fireworks, when it's less than a block away pretty easy to tell the difference). Guessing most doing that aren't legal gun owners, none are sober.

Sometimes I find roof leaks caused by falling 38 supers at my office at the beginning of the year.

I've been lucky the last 5+ years though.

A young lady was hit in the chest by a stray bullet at the downtown Raleigh NYE celebration. It passed though her lung and stomach. Cops said very likely celebration gunfire the source but not even sure what direction it came.

Just read a second report of NYE celebratory gunfire causing carnage. Couple not too far from my house had a bulled come through their roof, ceiling, and bedroom wall to hit a man in the back. No real injury there though thankfully. We obviously have too may people making the poor decision to drink while carrying. No sober person shoots their gun in the air in highly populated areas.

I dunno. This guy looks pretty with it. Just slipped.

I don't think these guys are allowed to drink... Are they?

Its an original parts kit built on a Tortort receiver and a 1:7 IMI barrel. Does ok with the 55gr stuff, should be better with the 62gr and up.

I need to feed it a couple brands to see what works best.

I have a factory .308 that is one of my favs. Hebrew Hammer.

Got a LB FAL Izzy in the wings.

More NFA fun... Form 1 and 4 are deemed non-essential services, so they’re not being processed during the shutdown. They’re happy to do form 3 and 5 as well as cash checks for new form 1 and 4 though.

Run away, far away. There are only a handful of US built AKs worth having.

Look for anything built on a comblock parts kit by a reputable builder.

If used ask for a no go gauge check.

    If they refuse walk away.
