    Nice!

ETA, I had one of these out of my own stash as I wanted to try it out. Not bad at all. Mine was the western omelette.

Planning on having some on hand and carrying one in my ski pack JIC.

Just acquired a Walther PPQ 9mm 5" with a slotted slide for $450 on GunBroker and it shoots like a dream. Much better aesthetics than a glock and way better trigger. If you are on the fence between glock or Walther, I would definitely recommend the Walther.

Any recommendations on a do it all rifle for the PNW? Looking to hunt elk, deer and other animals that taste good.

Preliminary research is pointing towards this Remington package: https://m.dickssportinggoods.com/p/r...783syn27022rif

Anything in OWB that would fit an STI 2011?

I would stay away from a combo and put a decent scope on your rifle. And I have handled that 783, I wouldn't go that route.

You can generally find a Savage 11/111 package which will suit you just fine for a few seasons. I'm still working on the right bullet setup for accuracy on mine, but will definitely be getting a new scope. My rifle was MOA out of the box, and for a ~500 rifle combo, is probably one of the better setups around. Not sure of your budget, but if I had 1k to spend on a setup, I'd do a Savage 11, or ruger american and a $500 optic. A $500 optic and a ~$500 retail bare rifle will be a fantastic combo.

The Remington 700 is the best selling bolt gun in history.

My 1969 Remington bdl in 25-06 has killed more deer than you can stuff in a school bus.
    I run a 1969 4x tv scope on it.
It works great out to 250 yards, that's plenty for a decent hunter.

Get whatever you want for a brand though... even plastic if that's your thing.

Ammo wise form what I've seen.
7mm and 300 wm might be a little much for deer.
    308 is okay for both.
270 might be a little light for elk

I like older ammo types and guns though.

PS I sold my M1A1 thompson yesterday... and got back my M16.

STI? Get an SVI you pansy.

I was expecting to pay $300 - $500 based on what I saw on the Dick’s site.

I’d rather pay in that range and then upgrade if/when I’m out there enough to justify it.

Would this be ‘good enough’ and a large step up the Remington 783: https://m.dickssportinggoods.com/p/s...11trphyhntrrif

Thanks for the replies — on mobile and don’t know how to multi quote.

Don't be afraid to look at used guns at a reputable gun shop too. Lots of older rem model 700's out there that would serve you just fine for as long as you'd like to hunt. For a do it all caliber I would look at 7mm-08, 7mm rem mag, .280 rem. and .30-06, in that order.

Savage makes some good rifles for a great price that you can't go wrong. I wouldn't ever shop at Dicks because they caved in and stopped selling AR's.

I'd recommend this route too. Very few people out there shoot the barrel out of a rifle that you'd have to worry about buying a used gun.

Yep, don't over look a good used gun, especially a mil surp. As far as what cal to get you need to match that with what you intend to do with it.

Do you reload or are you just gonna buy factory ammo.

    I am a big fan of .308, 7.62x39 and 5.56.

And Dicks can eat a bag of dicks. Do not buy anything from them.

Lots of farmers run old 7.62x39 sks's picked up when they were sold loose in barrels for $150. Limited accuracy and not much range but they work. The 30-30 has killed millions of deer. I wouldn't wan to use either for elk.

5.56 isn't legal for deer or elk...

    30-06 is heavy on recoil.

There are 499 Remington 700's on gb between $300 and $500.

Really nice Remington 700 BDL chambered in 7mm Remington Magnum. This gun is in excellent condition with only a few minor blemishes. Very nice wood. Comes with a Leupold 3X9 Vari-X II scope in good shape & leather carry strap. I spoke with the Remington factory and was told based on the S/N this gun was manufactured in 1966. The gun also comes with 134 Rounds of Vintage 7mm Rem Mag Ammo (shipped separately. ** I am helping a friend who’s uncle passed away by selling the items I currently have listed. All items I have listed came from the same collection and have been in the same house for a very long time.

If you buy from Dick's, you lose your mancard. Fuck Dick's.

The "AR" was designed for the military, it's main purpose is to kill humans, they have a conscious.
