    49N DID NOT suck today ....
    new snow covered the rain crust enough
    to hit the woods, its still snake season.
    occ. freezing fog on top.
    not much snow in the forecast.

    if youre heading this way,
    consider T-zer or Silver

    Supposedly silver got 6inches overnight last night but it was hella skied out. Unfortunately there aren't any storms coming this way and we definitely need more snow

    six new at 49N last night, drifts 2ft.+ if ya know where to look.....

    on the down side:

    visibility was zero to poor, total IFR, with a little freezing fog thrown in;
    a shitshow feeling began around 11AM;
    jerrys, jongs, gapers and gromms started to show up en masse
    to ski/ride that chopped up six; hundreds of paying customers came
    to a dead stop wherever they were on the mountain due to zero viz,
    THAT made it sporty!

    Moving out to Rossland for january-march. Been in BC before but new to this area.

    Looking for beta and/or touring partners out of rossland/red mountain. Is there any particular recomendd maps, books, or routes?

    Is it ok with patrol to skin up kirkup and ski the controlled resort area used for the $10 cat ski? Would be nice to do a few solo laps to get some uphill fitness back.

    Any other general Rossland/red advice is much appreciated!

    2013/14 Inland PNW thread

    Silver was surprisingly good today. Smooth soft conditions all over the mountain. Only shit conditions was below mid way of chair four which was below the snow line. Upper mountain had nice low moisture content pow. Gate two entrance is sporty with lots of the tops of trees poking up. P chutes had great untouched turns, attention needs to be paid as there are obstacles lurking.
    Skiers left of Tall Paul gave up some great smooth soft high speed turns.
    Wardner got lapped for boot top pow.
    Pretty busy but never waited more than 5 min in line.
    Jerry’s were out in force.
    Life Flight showed up. Pretty sad deal. Watched patrol performing chest compressions while being towed up to the top behind a sled. Sobering. Hope the person lived.
    NW_Skier made the trek over to help destroy the pow. Legs are spent. Heading back tomorrow for some bitter cold turns.

    ^ good day at silver indeed. Lower chair 4 was definitely “variable” wind loaded on the front side but some good pockets around for most of the day. Also saw the life flight chopper, put things in perspective for sure. Watched patrol give compressions for another 20-30 minutes near the lodge and use an aed sad.

    Conditions were hella fun. Unfortunately it was a weird day. Saw lots of toboggans with people. The life flight patient was a old man in his 80s that hit a tree. Rumor is that he did not make it. Very sad and sobering. Huge respect and sorrow for that guy. Shortly after my girlfriends brother had gone off a wind lip under chair 2 and scorpioned it and injured his back. Had to get ski patrol involved to be on the safe side but he turned out to be fine thankfully.

    I'll be living in the Sandpoint area (Clark Fork) from tomorrow through late April, and would be psyched to find some touring partners in the region. This will be my first full winter outside of the Greater Yellowstone area, so I'm excited to check out some new country!

    Thanks for invite funky. I don't think tbs is allowed to enter Id. Something about livestock. First time at those resorts, looking forward to it.

    Some of the east aspect above Hope have always been on my list and you have Scotchman Pk. Plus the pass in CA. Sadly I'm further South and no longer ski that area, but plenty of others do plus https://www.panhandlebackcountry.com
    FYI do a trip to Turner Mtn on a Friday even if it's lift skiing.
