To the issue of the leash attachment...

Fristchi very much did consider that metal loop for leash attachment. There is a channel in the mold that perfectly fits the metal cable. When I was switching my vipecs between skis I took a photo. Click image for larger version.

Wish they could have included that in the manual, it's way more streamline and less sketchy than putting it through the toe lever.
TLDR; Ski faster. Quit breathing. Don't crash.

That is one stellar bit of advice. Thanks!

Does anyone know of a source for a finished loop of said cable, or do I need to swage my own. I didn't see anything on skimo.co.

I use the Dynafit leashes and they came with that metal loop. You could also use 100% dyneema braid line like this with a double fisherman's knot for closing the loop.

Especially for touring gear that gets small distribution!

Here are some photos of the 90mm 17/18 Tectons () mounted onto my V6 with a 96mm waist. The first photo is with the brake arms deployed. The tips when deployed are about 109mm apart, so there's about 6.5mm of clearance on each side. The second photo is of the brake arms level with the topsheet. As shown, the tips just grazes the ski edges, so about 96mm apart. However, tested it out and the brakes deployed without issue.

    Garmont Radium

    Ok here goes,
Did a quick and dirty plank mount of the tectons to see if the my radiums would have issues

I mentioned a friction under the toes in walk mode. The tip of teh soles rub over the metal plate while pivoting forward:

    Angle where it touches:

Its not much and i really don't know if i'd notice it with the swingweight/momentum of walking or if i'd ever stride that far. Just wondered if anyone else noticed this.

You can easily push past even with the hand. Full extension:

This seems like a non issue, and if you decide it is an issue then a quick 69 seconds with a file should sort you out.

Does filing down the toe bumper affect the release mechanism at all while in ski mode?

Thanks for that Lee. You basically just removed the protruding column from the looks of it and created a smooth round shape. easy.

Exactly. Then stuck mastic tape on the boot and the Tecton tumour. The tape fell off the tumour though. No.invagination since then

I´ve been using the Tecton for a season now without any problems, but I have thought about a possible situation: If you release from the heel, but you do not fall forward enough to make the toe bumper open the bindning, how high is the release force then? If a twisting force is applied when in ski mode, but still out of the heel unit, does the toe piece of the Tecton release like other tech bindings? Without the heel retention, I would guess that the forces needed to get out of the lateral side release would be very high.

Without heel being in the boot and Tecton toe in ski mode you quite easily come out of the toe.

    Brake Width

Tectons mounted on CD114Ls. Brake width was 110 on 114mm, plenty of room. Deploy without a hitch

110mm seem larger than needed on this width. When retracted they sure stick up and out. I get why people are worried about catching on them

They hardly pull inwards when locked in.

Has anyone played around with bending them inwards a little?

    1) is it just funky light or uploading/lens issues that makes your edge seem a bit crooked?

    2) I think Fritschi would approve of use of light blue accents over the orange one in this case #euromatching

    3) I have never bent the brakes on Vipec blacks or Tectons in, only out, but i have never had any issues with them catching or deploying when they shouldn't. It happened once on Vipec Whites due to the interior of the heel binding getting clogged up with snow before I knew how to get it back out, so not through anything caused by the brakes.

    4) I've had on fall when I came out of the back, but not the front. It did not cause any issues and was due to me taking a spill at the bottom of run in fresh after loosing my balance in my final turn. I was a bit surprised, but no harm no foul right? I cannot remember the mechanics of the spill, but after more than 100 days on them by now I have just about 0% uncertainty of both Tectons and Vipecs releasing as they should.

ah, ok. I used the top of my screen then lines to see if it was straight - it is not - but it is probably just due something that went slightly awry when taking the pic #lovetechnology #techneverfail

Got to admit, you had me freaking out a little there when i saw that at work . It's the picture/light/angle/lens/whatever. Checked it when i got back and can see nothing with the naked eye except for the camber that goes all the way under all the binding way further back.

Figured as much, but still - thought I should ask. When I saw the pic I was like "... that seems a bit strange...", but glad to hear that everything is a-ok!

Some downs have like camber pods, a la triple camber. not sure it is intentional.
