Said "fuck it" and bought a pair today.. obviously its gonna be a minute before I get on them. I'll be sure to come back and write a little review on it once I ski them. Especially if no one else has posted any real feedback on the ski. I've just heard little info here and there on the ski, not too much. It's not like its gonna suck tho, just a ski thats been praised time and time again with a raised up tail..

    And I went with green..

Look forward to reading that review, think with the recent changes your timing is spot on as well. Good call on the green.

Good for you man! Those look so sick especially for any deep day when it is 3D snow all day.

Yep, gonna be my first time on a full rockered ski if I am not mistaken.. also really stoked to see how the reflect tech handles on any variable snow.

Yeah I think I nailed the timing as well. They said the ship dates on this ski was Oct 18th? But I wonder if that when all the Inthaynes will be ready to ship, and if there are any orders they might complete a pair and ship them out earlier? IDK, we will have to see. Only live a few hours north of the 4FRNT factory so even if they do ship out the 18th, I should get them the 19th/20th, which is no big deal, I can wait a couple of weeks haha.

Also, it sounds like they are making closer to 50 pairs this year as opposed to last years 25. So, if any of you are interested, its not as big of a rush as last year.. but the new price might be moving some skis quite well. Anyhow, Ill come drop some feedback as soon as I can and hopefully all the skis aren't gone, so if you like what you hear you can pick up a pair.

Haven't received skis yet, but will post pics when I do.

Thayne said there are changes coming to the Inthayne, not sure if those changes will be in effect this season or not until next season.

Current ski as you know is just a Renegade with a turned up tail. 122mm waist, 35m radius, reflect tech, etc.

New version of the ski is supposed to be 117mm waist, 30m radius, new tip/tail design, and softer flex. Wonder if it will still have reflect tech or not.

The next iteration sounds more my speed but I've already got my pair of the 2018s. They look great, light for their size, quite stiff. Have a set of Blackops for resort/sled pow so the thaynes are gonna get some Ions. Gonna wait til the lifts are spinning before I take them out for a tour, I'll post once I get some days in.

Have you skied the black ops? If I hate the Inthaynes for some reason I want to pick up a pair of those..

I'll post a little review once I get on the Inthaynes.. I don't even have them mounted up yet though.. get my new boot next weekend so I just need to mount them and find snow

Yeah I had the BlackOps all last year. Mounted with STH16 @ -2. I think they are the best pow-twin tip I've ever used. I really like them. They are now #1 on my list of favorites skis followed by the 186 Rossi Sickle. Super damp, powerful but easy to slash, stomps drops, skis switch like a dream. I do think that the rec mounting point is really far forward for most people. I'd have to get the tape measurer out again, but I think the rec line is only -3 or -5 of true centre. But at 2500g per ski, its a bit much for my 140lbs to haul up hill very far.

Hm... I'm really considering selling/trading my Inthaynes for a BlackOps. Inthaynes haven't even been mounted, and I wanna try them, but based on specs and the few reviews of the BlackOps and Inthaynes I think the BO will be more suitable for me..

    Decisions decisions

Honestly dont do it. The Black ops are super stable and damp, but they are so heavy that they are not playful in the air at all. Spinning/shifties feels like a chore. They are so fun on snow and inspire you to get tricky, but are just too heavy.

    Try the inthaynes first.
I'd love to give them a go

Yeah.. I'll most likely end up trying the Inthaynes. Made a FT thread to put the idea out there though... have you skied ON3P Jeffs/4FRNT YLEs? Those have higher stated weight but I didn't think they were too bad in the air..

There are some cheap YLES around, so if I hate the Inthaynes I can always send them back with 4FRNTs satisfaction guarantee and buy a YLE or BlackOps if I can find a deal.

Yeah I have k116s, and skied 191 caylors for years. Black ops feel more sluggish than both.

Hmm. Good to know, I'll def give the Inthaynes a try before getting rid of them then.

InThayne Owners... anymore feed back? Tell me more about these skis!!!

I love 4FRNTs straight shapes, damp layups, and progressive mount points. Trying to justify a pair of InThaynes for a slackcountry pow/jib setup.

Heavy rig, but that frictionless feel of 4FRNTs EHP/Renegade straight shape in soft snow cannot be classified as anything but other worldly. EHP 186cm with a twin tip at around 1800-1900gm with Shift/Tecton binder is still my ideal slackcountry/jibby setup for the Wasatch Back. That or maybe a Faction CT 4.0 188... but no actual experience riding Faction

I bought a pair and skied them all last season. They're pretty much exactly what you're expecting, which means they're awesome. I was hoping for a looser, goofier renegade, and these delivered. They still seem to appreciate the same style of skiing as the Rens (i.e. neutral, but still athletic type stance), and they still do well at speed thanks to the flex pattern. They like to be driven, but will obviously still let you shut it down or throw the skis sideways because there's so much rocker. Not as much fun in tight trees as something really soft like a hellbent/chetler type ski, but certainly still manageable. If a pair of renegades and bent chetlers had a kid, this would be it. I also toured on them a bunch up in BC and they did alright on the skin track, but nothing to write home about. I think this is exactly the ski Thayne had in mind when he started messing with the shape/flex, and I'm interested to see what the changes for this year end up feeling like.

    Summary:

Pow - Surfy, buttery, and loose like a bent chetler, etc.
Soft resort snow - they still like to ski fast, but definitely aren't overly demanding
Hardpack - I mean they're fine. You could probably everyday these at the resort but I'm not sure they'd be choice #1 for me.
Trees - As long as things don't get super tight they're tons of fun
Backcountry - The way down makes everything worth it, and we could all use a leg workout anyway, right?

    Thanks Knipping!

This years version looks like it comes in with narrower waist, turning radius reduced to 25m, and a lighter core at 2050 gm for the 188cm. Me want for sidecountry!

Where did you mount yours? Is factory recommended really -2cm from true center as someone else had said earlier?

Factory and yes. I wouldn't mount any further back. They don't like to be ridden in the back seat, much like the renegades.

As always, I'd measure it out just in case. Never trust the graphic.

I had last years model and they weren't for me. Too stiff for me and surprisingly hooky for a ski with a 35m turn radius. I really like the hoji but the thayne just didn't do it for me.

    4FRNT Inthayne

Just bought a pair of the this years 181cm InThaynes. Didn’t have a rockered ski in the quiver last year and I missed that.

I’ve owned/skiied Hojis, YLEs, Rens and Kyes. This one looks to be a perfect size/combination of each. Will be a great Baker ski.

Ship date is not until Nov 12. Mounting with bright red Jester Pros.

Will post a quick review when I ski em.

Any chance anyone's had a go at these this season? Curious how they ride

^^ Same. There is a pair for sale locally. I really love my 187 hojis. Wondering how these compare.
