I’ve been looking for a source to confirm if it’s dead and haven’t found anything mentioning this deal in recent news. $15B and a 14y maintenance contract for workers in Ontario leads me to think that the libs wouldn’t kill it. More likely they would cancel new deals. The liberals love making money just as much as they love standing up for women’s rights

For the record, the arms deal you are referring to was signed by the previous Conservative gov.

For the record, it was set up by Harper and signed by Trudeau. The libs love a good deal as much as the conservatives if not more

“Justin Trudeau has defended his government’s decision to sign off on the sale of more than 900 armoured vehicles – including dozens described as “heavy assault” and equipped with cannons – to Saudi Arabia, arguing that the deal is in line with Canada’s foreign and defence policies.

The C$15bn ($11.63bn) deal – struck by the previous Conservative government in 2014 and given the green light after Trudeau became prime minister – has been in the spotlight in recent years amid growing concerns about Riyadh’s human rights record.”

    https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/can...deal-1.4579772

I find it surprising that this deal has not been mentioned in recent stories about the relationship between Canada and SA.

I been reading there are a huge amount of SA resident doctors training in Canada and so when they all get pulled pretty quick it will impact HC, not to mention it will seriously fuck up their education and acreditation as MD's

Governments honouring their predecessors legislation and deals is a staple of stable democratic countries.

I’m not a Trudeau or Liberal party supporter btw. Apologies to the collective for kinda defending him and talking politics in the first place.

Happy what’s her name spoke out though.

    This Week in Canada...

Warm and airy 3.9 million dollar open-concept home for sale in Vancouver's Kitsilano neighbourhood is a bit of a fixer upper.

thats probably a good market price, like the agent said in an interview a developer could put 4 condo's on that lot and make a lotafucking$$$$$$$

even if that house was not trashed it would still be a knock down worth 4million, the taxes would be 40K per year so that is a real problem for long time vancoverites of modest means who have lived in kits or dunbar or south slope for 40 years, most of them are probably deffering property taxes until the property is sold which they can do

Maybe "we" can recruit from the other SA-South Africa as they are about to start a genocide of their own (is it still a genocide if whites are the victim?).
I've said it elsewhere, I'm not the biggest fan of PM Zoolander and I laugh that he started this feud over a "Canadian in Saudi prison" but if it makes eastern Canada wake up and realize there's more than enough oil in Canada to cut all ties with the family of Saud good for him.

This is bullshit for longtime home owners. They pay for 40 years and because prices around them go crazy they get taxed out of the neighborhood
    but
The deferral option seems like a fair thing but how much can they do and for how long ?

Father-in-law has been deferring his property taxes since he retired some 15yrs ago or so. Only has to pay them back if he sells, or when his heirs inherit. He had to have at least 25% equity in the home (he owns it outright) and has to apply for the program each year. Nominal interest is applied (somewhere between 1 and 3% in BC), and he can pay back any or all of it at any time.
The province pays the annual bill to the muni, so it comes off the working Joe’s provincial taxes. Another huge subsidy to the boomers in the wealthy cities, but probably better than them losing the home and having to move in with the kids, or worse.

    Thanks BCMH for clarifying that.
As far as I know it nothing in Ontario has this. Maybe that's why I see all kinds of reverse mortgage commercials.

I don't know much about Ontario beyond the fact that their previous premier is Oroville Reddenbacher's lesbian doppelganger.

    This Week in Canada...

Man shot in the leg during golf tournament, indignant shooter claims, "Well I yelled Fore."

    https://everythinggp.com/article/536...olf-tournament

A man received a gunshot wound Saturday during a golf tournament south of Grande Prairie.
At around 2:30 p.m. on August 25, RCMP were called to a report of a man that suffered a gunshot wound to his leg. The man was taken to hospital by a witness where he was treated and released, according to a media release from RCMP.
Police arrived at the golf course and determined that there was also an organized shooting competition going on nearby. Although the investigation is ongoing, officers say they are "confident that there is no risk to public safety at this time".

Don't worry. If you get your way, we'll have a Conservative government soon, and they'll keep all those ugly brown people outside our neighborhood.
