    Dude.

These absolutely do not deserve to be on the chopping block because they suck at large bumps...especially with the number of other skis you own. Just keep them and ski them as much as possible. Or better yet, move somewhere you can daily drive them.

Only if 1.5x isnt stiff enough for normal chop, but I highly doubt that. Aever steamrolls right over everything that isnt bumped out to shit.

How much do you weigh Tuco? I weighed 215lbs last season, but this next season I plan to come in at around 190. Sitting at 202 right now just from cardio burn, starting diet in September.

I am in better shape now, however still want a 1.5x so it can be slightly more poppy and playful like my old 191 BGs from 2015. With ever pound over 220, the aeverflex starts making more sense. I feel as I get into better shape, I dont need as stiff of a ski to take the beating my legs will be able to. And then I can use the slightly softer flex to my advantage in soft snow, moguls, and general playing around with them and having more fun.

Iggy even said 1.5x is the most balanced. I assume that means this ski works “best” in that flex. Do you guys know what that does to someone like me??? Immediately after he said that, I have been constantly thinking about 1.5x, Drooling over it..

Shit man, fiddle fucking, now this. It is the beginning of August and you are losing it. Maybe you need to focus on getting yourself to the Southern Hemisphere to get your head straight. I think I can help a fellow On3p junkie mag out.

I never get to ski any somewhat smoother snow with them. I got only one day on them in untracked snow, but the visability was the worst I have ever skied in too. Thats why noone was tracking it out. Still, these made low visability fun, because you can hit something and bounce 6 feet or so, and not even feel it on these. I just like this design so much, I want a daily driver version. These aever really want a pro backcountry freeskier to be hucking em’ on the reg in backcountry conditions. Sled ski. I think 1.5x will be better for resort.

Squaw has the steeps for them, but I prefer using a RES ski to pop up and over all the crud and bumps and link all those pops up together and throw shiftys and shit. I use Monster 108s for plowing, since the design is more conducive of that. I really think the 1.5x will be slightly more playful, and make it more versatile like RES should be. I dont need another one dimensional comp ski.

The only thing that makes sense to me, would be to keep them and move. That is not in the cards right now. Maybe keep them and move to Washington in 2020, since this might be my only chance for full Aever RES, and 5 years from now when I can ski untracked more often, I’ll regret selling them?

LWS, how did you achieve starting a for sale thread, and getting hundreds of posts and never even selling the skis. That is the goal, right?

Yes. Sell everything, buy a sled and move to WA or BC or AK.

During ski season I weigh in at 190-195lb nekkid. The 1.5 at first run I thought they would be to stiff as a daily. The more runs I took that went right out the window. If I were to pull the trigger on SG’s it would be in the 1.5. The stock flex would be more playful but their not called “Super” for nothing.
Knowing you ski Squaw I could see how these in bumps would suck. That place gets tracked and bumpy fast. Ski them early then switch once things go to shit or start hunting lines.

What the F am I even doing with my life? I hate lift lines, I hate skiing tracked out mank bumps, and I just want to soar like an eagle down huge vert open faces of pow pow. That is why I bought these.

Maybe the problem is that I’m not going full Aever. Some say never go full aever, but I think going half aever is even worse than going full. Go big or go home. I think for 2020 it’s time for me to go to mecca. I dont even know how Alaska works, but I’ll learn. How many hours of sun do they get mid winter in Juneau versus Anchorage?

The newer 189 BGs are stiffer than the older 191s. I have 2017 BGs, but have hand flexed stock 2018s as well. They are close to the stiffness of 191 Wrens. The current 1.5x is most likely stiffer than 191 Wrens, and 2x is just a flat out beast machine. They are fun to blast around with, but RES designs want to play and slash around for me, not rage and hate bang. Metal traditional skis are ultimately better for ragebangin’.

I mean, honestly, almost any floppy pow ski works fine in untracked. The RES shape shines in tracked pow and chop, IMHO. But the conditions where it really shines, I haven't seen much outside of maritime snowpack with lots of snow (aka WA, but I haven't skied in CA.) I haven't seen it at all in CO and not really in MT either.

Maybe the aever really is too stiff for the SG to shine; I've never skied it.

Aever is only too stiff because where I ski gets sooo bumped out.. they dont actually need “wide open” terrain. I have skied some moderately tight trees in Alpine Meadows and they are good there. In tighter chutes and stuff they are good too. RES can change direction easily. They are just a ton of work in and out of the 3 foot deep, sierra cement chop moguls, which make up atleast 50% of my powder days. Its not the skis, it’s where I ski.

Maybe make them a dedicated Mammoth Ski? I have the Ikon pass this year, and plan to ski Mammoth at least once a week. I find mammoth to be a little smoother than Alpine or Squaw.. and I dont mind Supergoats on firmer stuff, although not ideal. I could just load the car up with Aevergoats and 191 Monsters, and pick based on the snow conditions.

Are you still in Truckee? Get a mountain bike...

Seriously. It helps. I don't even miss winter right now. I could do without the smoke in the air, however.

Dude. Take a week this season and give all your other skis to a friend/family/neighbor/whatever. Then use these to ski as much as possible. Late starts and skipped days are ok but 2 weekend days isn't enough. Ski them everyday, every damn lap. You'll get used to them or find out they really aren't for you but try it and see how things go.

Note: I don't think I'm actually intimidating but I saw something about that in one of your posts? Mostly I don't jump around between skis so much as you do. Come up here and I'll do a day with you. Bring the full Aevergreene's super goats.

I mainly ride at northstar, but just got a Transition Sentinel for trail riding. It’s only making me obsess and overthink about gear more. Trying to find the perfect mountain bike started me up with all this craziness.

I need a girlfriend is what I need. Better yet a wife.

Haha, I was just kidding about being afraid of you. Kind of . Arent you a wrestler or something? I only said that because your probably the harshest on me out of all TGR mags. But I can get a little stuck in my brain sometimes, and I need someone like you to tell it to me straight.

A big problem of mine is I switch up skis too often. I started noticing that more this past season, when I finally logged 30 days on a single set of skis. Praxis Rx. That felt more comfortable than switching up styles/stances every damn day.

I’m going to keep the Aevergoats. You guys have convinced me.

Good. And fuck Northstar. Earn your descents.

There is no perfect mountain bike - it just depends. Just ride a shit ton before you worry about the "perfect" bike. If anything, I stress about trying to hit all of the trails around the area I want to ride - there are so many, sanctioned and not.

J, where are you getting a pass this ski season? Not epic? They crossed the line last season? If your gonna deal with corporate bologna, might as well ski Squaw?

I mainly ride my local XC loop in Tahoe Vista, or the KB Superloop thing, behind Crystal bay and Kings Beach there.

Ikon + Sugar Bowl for me. My daughter loves Alpine Meadows - and so do I - so had to do it. SB will be for crowded weekends.

    Was heavier last year.
SG's are stiff, but not any stiffer than a half dozen or so other skis in the quiver.
I personally like stiff skis in untracked.
With the core thickness of the SG's, seems to me the 2x s Supergoat would provide more 'pop'. And with On3p's signature super damp build, you won't end up with a harsh ride.
I would bet the standard layup SG skis like a mutherfukker too and would be enough ski for anyone.

Tuco, I prefer stiffer skis in untracked too. Aever are practically as damp as metal skis, but the bamboo core allows for some fun. Aever still have some pop, but I can get hung up in deep soft bumps with them. They are significantly softer than Monster 108s. I just need to stay out of the bumps with them, it’s a big mtn ski. Keeping them will motivate me to seek out steeper and deeper terrain.

J, I’m going to do day trips down there midweek. Mammoth is tied with JH for my favorite mountains. I can get much more vert in a day at Mammoth, than Big Sky. Simply because the Mammoth gondi can move so many people to the top of the mountain. At JH, you can take the gondi, but it doesnt access higher alpine terrain. Mammoth rocks.

Compare the core thickness of your SG's and BG's. That damp, crush everything feeling starts there, not the Aever 2x. I bet you would have the same hangup problems in bumps with the standard SG! I bet the standard SG kills it and is plenty ski for anybody. I believe the 2x should be the poppiest of the SG's! No?

    Also,

What differentiates the 1-1.5-2X as far as CF distribution/orientation?

I sold my 191s to Funky and when I bought my SGs I went standard layup and love them... My standard SGs def flexed stiffer than my 191s and have had no problem with tracked and untracked and are a breeze to ski... I am 6'4" and 205 lbs and would have zero issues rocking the 1.5, but I knew the std layup would be a blast in POW... My only issue was I did not spend enough time on them as I also fell in love with my 196 Bodacious... Now that is one stiff Fing ski and heavy as hell, but ooohhhhh so fun...!

I have 3 travel trips setup for this year and the SG will be in the bag for all...
