Not exactly a cool home worthy of this thread, but we got city approval and are moving forward (finally) with our rebuild.
Still along way from bending a nail, but the first bureaucratic step has been taken.

Still a few little tweaks to work out, but this is pretty close to the final concept.

I agree it is a constitutional right for Americans to be assholes...its just too bad that so many take the opportunity...

We didn't have any room to get too creative. Built to max setbacks on 4 sides. Decided to use fake red cedar. Hope I dont regret it

gutters and landscaping (not to mention the window shade) in, I'd say it's pretty much built. Looks nice. What's the story with the fake cedar, I'm not familiar with that product.

we built this house and have lived here for 19 years, it's for sale now. http://rillarchitects.com/portfolio/berryville/

The posts on the deck railings started to rot , plus we were early adapters on the wire look so the system was pretty clunky, so we rebuilt the railings of all clear cedar and used a newer wire system that's a lot sleeker, so that stuff looks even sharper now.
I wish that was our house in the pic, we are using same materials (siding, stone, trim color, windows etc.) We are waterproofing foundation now.

We almost went with real cedar until we finally found someone who used this product. A builder did his primary residence in red cedar and his beach house in white cedar. Looks awesome and we can have woven corners and flare using it.

Trumps softwood tariff rose cedar prices by 20% and the price has gone up beyond that.

1 mile outside of Boston. Everything is walkable but we have 100+acre park/woods abutting back yard. Been chasing the postage stamp lot for 6 years.

Got an all glass 9'x9' door in the living room that pockets into the wall. Perfect place to park one of BroMos cars.

Some nice homes in this thread. My takeaway is that if I ever get a chance to design my own home, I will hire baby bear as a consultant.
