Just put some weather stripping in there for $4.
    And fuck your fenders.

Also, the included fender came in really handy last Fall.
Yes , huck has saved me more rims and tires then I’ll ever know. I’m hoping the new ones are much more durable as they claim. Decent price on amazon , just think it’s time for healthy competition in that lighter , trail segment liner category
That fender is a bonus. Always said they’re one of the best $10 product. Keep my glasses in the pack most of the time with those. Can’t think of a reason to not have one. Always a puddle here somewhere

Instead of dumbass fends, you could just not wear your Sunday best to ride bikes in the woods.

Maybe it's the influence of the Creaky comments on the first couple pages, but I read this fender hate and wonder if you're thinking of full coverage commuter fenders. I'd have thought the little tiny ones are pretty hard to get this worked up about.

Fenders have nothing to do with keeping my clothes clean and everything to do with keeping spray out of my eyes.

I took some mud spray right in the eye yesterday... came in thru the tiny slot between my glasses and my face. A mini fender doesn’t sound like a bad idea.

Maybe don't ride if it's that muddy? Or did you get caught in the rain?

It hasn’t rained in 2 weeks... it was a puddle in a shaded area. It’s April not August. You sound like a fucking moron right now, be advised.

No. You definitely sound more retarded. Like the retarder kid who would need to be tackled and restrained by teachers when he acted out. Not the cute lovable one that just wants to be loved.
It’s not so much that you’re an idiot for not knowing simple things. It’s that you’re an idiot for coming on strong about shit that you should realize you don’t know shit about.

While we wait for Creaky to get his new alias registered, I have a question:

Lots of discussion in here about good tires when rolling resistance is no issue, but let's say you wanted to do a ridiculous event with lots and lots of vertical so rolling resistance is important but you don't trust yourself to go really slow on lonely descents. What tires are good for that? Also needs to be very reliable and work well on wide 27.5 rims.

And in case this is just silly rare (or too ridiculous to actually do at all), what's good and cheap? TIA

I found the schwalbe rock razor in the trailstar compound to a great fast rolling option in the rear as long as things weren't muddy. Climbing/braking was better than expected, provided you manage your fore-aft balance when things get a little loose. Cornering was solid. They have a lot of volume and the profile was a good match for a flow mk3 rim. This was also the supergravity casing and I personally had no issues with cuts, flats or torn knobs in Rocky terrain, but I know others don't necessarily trust schwalbes to hold up, so ymmv

I have also heard good things about the RR. I bought dunfee's minion SS and have liked that also. He highly recommended the RR to replace the SS when it was time. I haven't had any complaints about the SS thus far, though. It corners really well when you commit, but if you don't it feels a little loose.

I'm running a minion SS now in place of the rock razor and while I don't have nearly enough time to on it to come to a full conclusion, I think I prefer the RR... plus it would also just be the better choice for wide rims. I think ~25mm internal is about the max before the minion gets squared off too much.

I've got a few very happy rides on the new Terrene McFly. Rolls really well and with the big side knobs corners great. I ride the tough in the rear and light up front. They are measuring a touch over 2.8 on a 46mm (internal) rim and on the Scraper 45's measured 2.76 at ~15psi.

I'd consider bontrager Xr4s, pretty light and roll decent, seem pretty light duty thought I would swap them out after only riding minions and high roller 2s for the last few years, but they grip good enough for me so far. 2.4 on a 30mm rim has a lot of volume which is probably where it makes up for the small knobs compared to the maxxis tires I'm used to

Nobby nics? I picked up the new tubeless ready/performance line/addix compound racing ralphs a couple weeks ago. msrp of $62, seems ok so far.

Kind of heavier than I'd like but rolling resistance and grip seem acceptable for an xc tire. Hit some sharp rocks fairly hard the other day and didn't slice them open so that's nice.

What the hell to run on a race bike?

On my trail bike I am happy with EXO 2.5 WT track Minion DHF up front and a EXO 2.3 DHR2 or Agressor in the rear depending on conditions and how much I want to drift.

I am building up an SB100 and am trying to figure out something a little more racy. The rims I have are 30mmm wide which might be overkill but IMO fit the bikes flavor. I am not looking for opinions on what the lightest race tire is. I am looking for input for a front tire from those that like the hookup of Minion but have found something lighter that will get at least 50% there when hauling ass.
a positive attitude will not solve all of your problems, but it may annoy enough people to make it worth the effort
