What? Why? You might buy a car your mechanic enjoys working on. Maybe. But a binding? Why would you give a fuck?

If your mechanic told you to stay away from a certain model car, you wouldn't listen to him?

If I drove a vehicle for 300+ days with zero issues and a 'mechanic' suggested I get something better and more reliable I'd get a new mechanic.

We can't possibly save the planet by throwing away binding parts that only require a couple hours work to get them functional again.. for a few more ski days amirite???
Go that way really REALLY fast. If something gets in your way, TURN!

    .....

...maybe? If he’s just bitching because you have to remove the exhaust manifold to change the spark plugs, I’m not going to sweat it much. That’s more or less what we’re talking about here, except on a comically different scale. Mounting my own bindings, it’s never been something I’ve thought about twice. I’m not doing release tests, though, and I don’t have 50 pairs behind mine that I need to mount, too.
    focus.

Cool, you obviously are an authority on this subject. I just started skiing last week.

If you can pull your boot heel up your forward pressure is wrong.

This genuinely confuses me.....the boot is samwiched between the silver rivets on the base, no way the boot could be off center. The dildo can be off center on the boot, but that's way different of your claim of an off center boot.

But shops can get you different width brakes....that you can change out. Yes, it involves unthreading TWO! arms (as opposed to the single screw of other designs). Too much threading on and off for you eh? And aren't most (all?) bindings sold by brake width these days?

I've never seen this, but I guess that is unfortunate for people with uber soft boots? Does it affect performance at all, or are you more worried about your boots looking good for apres?

Dunno, I usually have no problem stepping in. Although I rarely lose my skis. That's probably due to the mad elasticity of my bindings. How about on XXXsteeps - being able to reach down and gingerly engage the binding while perched on vertical ice is waaay more comfy than having to smash your boot in.

    Unlikely.

You can ride whatever crappy bindings you want, more turntables for the rest of us.

as gwat and others have answered the other BS posted I'll address this

no one not getting paid to ride them likes Tyrolias
as a "shop guy" I love pivots, to ski and to mount what's not to like about all metal goodness in the heel

No, he has a vested interest in me coming to him for work. If he says not to get it it's probably because he won't make any money off of me if I do.

Actually I am my own mechanic so yea, I'd listen to my mechanic, even though he's an ass hole.
