I get mildly jealous of rich ski bums. I never get jealous of the 1/10 of 1/10 of 1% that collect the stupid cars in this thread.

I've known a lot of rich people in my life, but none that I'm jealous of. There's only one way to score points in this game - make your own decisions and live with the consequences. Any day you spend calling your own shots puts one in the win column. You can be homeless and still bat 1.000.

At the end of your life you will have helped a lot of people in ways that meant a lot to them. You've done critically important things for people when no one else would or could. You could live differently. You could sell your soul for numbers in a ledger and give up all passionate pursuits. Or worse: you could make that trade and then try to buy it back by spending the money on vain stuff whose value you only understand in dollars. Screw that shit. Don't regret your choices. Make better ones where you can but the difference between better and worse is seldom measurable by accountants.

Actually, its all working out just like I expected... but I have time, so let me recap.

-You created a thread, that rapidly turned into a meltdown thread, 30 pages of WTF in less than 12hrs (remarkable really).
-You deleted the thread , apparently by accident ... so the thread came back, and the melt down continued ... then you deleted it again.
-I take issue with people deleting threads
-I take issue with lies


In the interest of preserving the original flavor of the thread, I created this..so you wouldnt be able to delete it at your whim. I felt you where dishonest about why the thread was deleted (both times), and thats a trigger for me. I am pleased that this thread, is basically the same WTF as the last thread, and I suspect if you had the opportunity to erase this one, you would.

The actual Troll here was me titling the post "free carfax", a service that was offered (and to your credit, delivered). For anyone who has been around for a while, they would appreciate the context... However, it would seem that new new Andrew has mastered how the page is read by google analytics, so the deluge of m series jongs asking for free carfax has not happened (yet)... I am disappointed by this, but non the less.

Anyone hating on Bobby's line of work on the basis that there's something inherently wrong with it needs to take a closer look at themselves. Anyone who's into cars would enjoy being around cars and other car guys on the regular. Whether it'd be an enjoyable way to make a living is up for grabs... Personally, I've been happiest in my career when it doesn't overlap with something I enjoy personally. But to each their own..

Re: the homeless comment, I would choose homelessness over many jobs and lifestyles people have in the first world. The list is long... There are lots of things I could to to earn money that would cause me more grief than the lack of income would. I would absolutely be homeless before I'd spend my day riding busses across some shithole second city to work my numerous check out clerk jobs that scheduled me for 5 fewer minutes than would require they provide insurance. I would also choose homelessness before a job in which I had to carry out the interpersonal cruelty of some large bureaucracy. Life could be a lot worse than carrying a backpack around until choosing to walk off a cliff one day.
