Anyone have any experience with these? Obviously some China shit, but man, that price is right for a 2 person, 4 lb tent.

With stuff like bike parts, I'm a little reticent to feel secure investing, but for something as basic as a tent, maybe this is worth the cash?

Tarptents are nice for sure, if not a little whacky. Lightweight, made in the US, all good things. But the tent I showed above is selling for $70 and the Tarptent is $330. Big difference. I'd consider the Tarptent as my dedicated backpacking tent, but I was thinking about one of the Naturehikes for car camping, road trips, etc.

Buy a big ole Coleman: spacious, durable, cheap, and made in the USA.

Beware cheap Chinese fabric. A few years ago I bought a couple yards of silnylon of unknown origin, turned out to be cheap Chinese shit. It looked like the good stuf but it easily ripped and frayed like mad.

There are lots of inexpensive options for car camping tents.

I’ve scored some great cheap car camping tents off of Steep and Cheap. The Backcountry house brands sometimes go on crazy discount.

I also bought a huge ass Columbia wall tent to take 10 kids camping from Sportsman’s Guide for $99; figured it would last two years. It’s now 10 years old and has stayed dry though some mega storms. Who knew?

bought a 2-man car camping tent from Cabelas earlier this summer for $35 ("regularly $50"). It's a decent enough tent - no vestibule - and it was dirt cheap.
