I feel like if Jon can make a company/bags called douchebag, then maybe there's room for a ski bag line called "Colostomy".

ie. The double wide Colostomy Bag. Carries twice as much of your shit around.

I have that PM Gear bag too, and it's really well made, but heavy. Very easy to load it over 50# because of how much extra crap you can stuff in there.

Also have the old Dakine Concourse double, which I got for Mrs C awhile back. It's not as burly (got some airline damage from Southwest, but they gave me $100 and let me keep the bag), but lighter, and still holds a 190+ ski.

Thule makes nice luggage generally, so their bag might be worth checking out.

I've got the DPS bag but I neither ski nor travel anymore so it hasn't gotten much use. Marshall said they found some old bag that was the best bag ever but not made anymore, and that bag heavily influenced the design. Seems nice and well put-together though.

I have a concourse double with tags that I'd sell for a good price. The only issue I see is shipping it at a reasonable cost. I live near Sacramento.

Just bought a Armada Double Hauler from L9. Nice bag and the price was great.

Anybody have experience with putting 3 pairs of skis in any of these "doubles"? The dakine boundary seems like it would be big enough? I'm flying to yurp with a couple buddies this spring and extra bags are $200 RT, so of course it makes sense to buy something big instead of using our existing smaller bags. Medium sized touring gear, so I'm not too worried about the weight limit.

I have a Dakine double and can fit my skis at 186, my wife’s at163 and my son’s 130’s in. I know I couldn’t fit three sets of my powder skis unless they had demo bindings on them or inserts and I could remove them and nest the skis together.

jesski recently fit 176 Billy Goats (FKS), 171 Cochise (FKS), and 163 Zero G 95 (tech) in a fall line double 190. Shorter skis let you stagger the bindings. If you're buying a new bag for this express purpose, maybe a 200 cm bag would let you get 3 pairs of low 180s skis. Tech binders are also a bit easier to stagger.

Dakine Fall Line Double Roller 190:
    - Lighter than the massive Dakine Concourse (6lbs vs 12lbs)
    - Fits my 196 Protests and 192 GPOs side by side. (even though it says 190)
    - I can lay a pair of skis flat, boots on top laying down, helmet, gear, all clothes and outerwear and still be under 50#s ...
    - Cheaper than the alternatives.

    DB_ works great for me..

I have the DB bag, bought just last winter. (maybe after the fabric got an update per some other posts in this thread??)

It has been through several airline trips, (mostly flying Alaskan, if that matters..) and twice as strapped to the luggage rack of an SUV for a long road trip. It has held up amazingly well. No ripped fabric, the zippers are all still smooth, etc, etc,

2 pairs of skis are easy, especially if they are different sizes.. Fit Atomic Auto at 117 wide & 194cm length easily, with all my gear no problem. Carried my boots as a carry on once, and got 2 pairs of skis and a snowboard in the bag, ( had to take off snowboard bindings) but it still fit.

It rolls well through airports, has a bunch of daisy chains to strap extra bags/gear to the outside, and rolls up nice and small for storage.

I highly recommend, and would purchase again...

So the largest problem we had with the DB was with my wife's skis @ 164 cm and a bunch of misc. gear (glacier & avy gear, outerwear, etc), the skis failed to provide adequate structure for the bag. So it would drag right in front of the wheels and the light fabric seemed to wear very quickly. Not so much of a design flaw as a "user beware." This hasn't been an issue with the dakine bag. We've switched to putting my longer skis in the DB, which alleviates the issues and makes more sense anyway because my skis are heavier.

I also dislike having to remove and stow the handle every time I roll the bag.

OTOH, my wife recently packed up a bunch of my stuff to ship it (she's a saint), and said contrary to our initial assumption, the DB actually fit more than the Dakine Fall Line 190. YMMV.

I love the design of the DB, but the durability has been terrible. So terrible that it ruins an otherwise great bag. On the whole, I’d say it is a very expensive piece of shit.

We have two and travel with 4 pairs of skis ranging from 160-196cm. As long as at least one pair of skis is all the way at the bottom of the bag they always had enough structure to not drag (even when overloaded with soft goods and avie stuff).

I’d like to see one made out of material similar to a Black Hole or Base Camp Duffel. I’d happily take the weight penalty for a bag that wasn’t thrashed after a single trip.

The colostomy bag should handle all the shit you can stuff in it and get you there and back.

I found a k2 bag at a generic sporting goods store a few years ago. So far it’s been bomber and even United hasen’t been able to hurt it. Looks like you can’t get that exact bag anymore, the two things I wish it had are a handle (only has a shoulder strap) and wheels. Carrying a 50lb bag along with other shit through the airport sucks. Wrapping your bindings and exposed edges will help the life of any bag but additional padding in the bag helps. Wheels will be a must have for my next bag though.

Patagonia just reissued the 190 Black Hole Snow Roller double bag. I've had one for years, but when they started again this year, I picked up a second one. It's light, durable, and waterproof and has been great so far. Favorite thing is the tie down hooks. So now instead of a ski bag AND a rolling duffel, I can save weight by using a non-wheeled duffel, and just latching it on the Snow Roller and just pull one thing to/from airport, etc. The bag is pretty stiff for a soft sided bag and retains it shape well too. But looks like they're already sold out of some colors, and they only sell them every so often it seems.

I don't know about you guys, but the airline baggage guys have destroyed every bag I've used after about 6-8 trips. From my perspective, all bags are disposable regardless of cost. Your results may vary...

Not sure if there available in the USA but I rate my snowkart zoom pretty well, takes anything to 205cm and hasn't got a mark on it even after two flights.

I have had a good run with my DB so far, it got dirty and that is it on the 5 planes it went on/switched between on it's maiden voyage. Delta doesn't charge for being over 50lbs on ski equipment so the weight of the bag didn't matter when checking it with them.

I just got the Dakine Boundary to replace my dbl concourse which survived 9 international trips. The boundary is lighter but is missing the interior tie-down straps.

This will be my 3rd season with it. Its seen about 10 round trip flights in the US and is still holding up well. The first flight it got a small cut through the side but since than its been great. I can fit 2 pairs of mounted skis or 3 pairs if one doesn't have bindings. The longest ski I've put in it has been a 186cm ON3P and there is plenty of room toward the top of the bag.

I have the same problem with my DB, the fabric needs to be burlier. The functionality of the bag is awesome, but I'm not sure that it makes up for the lack of durability. If storage is a concern then the DB is one of the best options since you can roll it up.

I'm using the douchebag too, and the functionality is awesome. Like others have said, mine started showing wear and tear way too early, and I'm honestly not sure how long it will go before exploding. Had to duct tape several holes after about 15-20 flights, but it started showing way earlier. This could ofc be due to some terrible handling by the airport personell as well.

I actually wanted to write a really good review here, because I "love" the bag. I want to love it due to the great functionality, but I'm in all honestly a little bummed by the quality. That said, I haven't seen any other ski bag I rather use. So when it all falls apart, next one will be a douche bag as well.

Just wanted to throw it in the ring as it seem really big (but a bit short maybe).

What's the verdict on Douchebag? I've thrown away my Burton bag that I've been using for several years and need something new. Even though I have snowboards I can go with ski bag just fine, but I need a long one (Hello swallowtails).
Besides DB, what are my options, Patagonia?
