Rode chairlifts all alone at Breck on Monday most of the day, it was honestly the least crowded I've ever seen. Guess everyone was at Beaver or WP. Fun was had, whale's tale to Y chute was great if you don't mind traversing over a couple of rocks.

They weren't at Beaver. The only chair I waited for all day was the first one.

'Twas a fun weekend, and the weather delivered! Sunny pow on Saturday and deeper storm skiing on Sunday. Some low-res iPhone pics, mostly taken by jesski.

We were stoked that the exit skied almost as well as the main course.

Back to the weather/snow: snow seemed pretty stable on Saturday, with a sun crust forming on south and E facing slopes. N - NW facing terrain stayed pretty pristine. Some moderate sloughing above treeline on Sunday with the new snow -- nothing awful but enough to make me pay attention.

Drive home on Sunday night wasn't nearly as bad as it could have been. I-70 closed in Silverthorne, but 6 over LL pass moved reasonably fast.

Nice little spring break with the family, sunday and monday at breck, yesterday skied at keystone. Here's a pic of one my kids after dropping into lake chutes, great snow up in there on monday and we caught a little weather window break as well.

Haha, I’m no insider. No idea. I saw some guys poach lower EW a while back and patrol caught em right away. LEW is so not worth poaching, and so easy to be caught. If I poach, it is way more stealth.

Yeah that’s small potatoes. This was a dozen people from the top of the notches while tossing bombs. I know you have a few patrol buddies in your Rolodex, spill it

This is one crazy forecast. Get out you Nirvana albums, Grundens & warm wax

Integrated moisture levels increase significantly Thursday evening, as the atmosphere slowly saturates from the top down. The warm conveyor belt out ahead of the mentioned trough will pump anomalous subtropical moisture into the Central Rockies, with steady rain developing over western Colorado late this evening. Precipitation spreads east overnight, with the initial rain/snow line hovering between 10,000-11,000 feet.

Some mountain areas could see 0.25-0.50” of rain, before a cold front arrives Friday morning, dropping snow levels to about 8,500 feet. Snowfall will be heavy along the frontal boundary, but short lived, as the storm system quickly ejects onto the plains. Through Friday, look for total snow accumulations of 7 to 14 inches for higher elevations of the Park Range, Elk, and West Elk Mountains. Elsewhere, storm totals will range from 5 to 10 inches. Above about 12,000 feet, storm totals could significantly exceed these numbers.

Steamboat outside of December and January is always a dice-roll.

Hell - it can even be a dice-roll in December and January.

It's a dice roll if it hasn't snowed in a week. Their elevation and aspect challenges are well known. It's not a big deal when they are putting up their 375" mid mountain average.

Yeah, it's kind of fucked that it might rain to 10K though. There are no winners in that scenario.

This is what I was referring to. Mid-winter (to say nothing about spring) rain at the Boat seems to be a more frequent and frustrating occurrence.

Loveland and A-Basin are winners in that scenario.

Hut trip this weekend. Getting up high, which seems like a fortuitous call. Will primarily be skiing from 11,500 - 10,000.
