I have no idea why the leash was required. Probably because they didn’t understand what snowboard was. They assume if a surfboard has one, snowboard need one as well?

It’s great that lookout hires local people to work but they don’t ski or snowboard and they sure don’t have common sense for anybody on skis or snowboards.

leftovers from yesterday skied smooth this AM @49N
new snow and wind loading filled the trenches
    in open runs, not so much in the trees;
    minimal grooming on most runs,
snow stayed soft into the PM,
    massive crowds,
    big race day .......

Awesome three days at Schweitzer. Friday was soft with areas of 8" or so of new in the morning. At 11:00 or so, it started dumping. In about three hours, we received another 6" officially but in the lee areas below the ridges, it was riding just about knee deep. Storm skiing is great in the afternoons as the less-seasoned riders tend to bail out (too cold, wet, windy, whatever...) and the same lines get refilled by the time you make a lap. It was untracked everywhere all afternoon until about 3:00 when I quit. Really a fun day!

Saturday is kind of a blur in the morning but the afternoon is crystal clear. We did two laps out of the Triple gate into the back country and they were the best back country laps I've ever taken out of there. We had sun and the snow was boiling up to the middle of my chest. It was light, blower with face shots and an easy hike out. Great day!

Sunday was about an inch of new over the soft groomers, just great, fast cruising. We only skied until lunch but it was an excellent morning with about 7 of us ripping. Fun weekend!

Ok. Thursday at Silver. Friday with the grandkids.
Black Kirkwood jacket. Beat up Armadas. A bit of a beard. Sunrader motorhome with two sweet puppies.
With a low of 31 tonight and tomorrow’s high of 36, I figure it to be wet.
I hate skiing on a schedule...

Tonight: Snow. The snow could be heavy at times. Low around 26. Very windy, with a southwest wind 34 to 41 mph, with gusts as high as 55 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 6 to 10 inches possible.

To top off my stoke, I tried some Dynastar Legend X106 last Friday and absolutely loved them. Ordered them Sunday night, they shipped Monday, arrived Wednesday, mounted and ready to ski by 3:00 today so, new sticks on a storm day. I'm totally jacked!! Thanks to Rossi/Dynastar and Spokane Alpine Haus for making this happen!

^ Awesome man! I skied them in not so good conditions at Mission a while ago and was really impressed. I may be adding them to the quiver for next year after I thin some others out. Interested to hear your thoughts on them in soft snow. Not looking for a pow ski as I have plenty of them. Just a daily driver.

One bad morning on his Viciks, and he's looking for a new ski. Sad.

I actually bought them for pow after riding them last Friday in epic storm conditions. These are replacing my Rossi Super 7, vintage 2011 or so. I have the X88 for daily drivers, which also work pretty well in a foot or so of new. I skied the 106 in knee-deep last Friday and was very impressed. On the run-outs, which were soft crud (it snowed 6" in three hours during the day, so imagine) they seemed to hook up pretty well...not like the 88's which I really like on groomed but way better than my Supers do. I'll give these a workout this weekend and report back but my expectations are pretty high, based on the 88 and from skiing the 106 last week.

My Viciks? Maybe. I'm thinking of revamping the quiver so others may be up as well. Pm me.
Headed to silver. Schweitzer didn't get their predicted amount and it looks like silver has 8" by their snow stake cam.

I'll have you know that it was two weeks. After two years without a vacation over four days.

If that is directed at me, no, just a Silver pass. I ski Schweitzer occasionally.
