no love for eldo? place was the bomb when I was a kid and chasing tail around cu boulder
I'd go down to ned after making some bad ass turns and pick up girls with hairry arm pits, those were the days
place is fun, you all are not doing right
but getting stuck in jenny creek and taking for what seem liked ever skiing back into the town of eldora then hoping for a ride back up the hill, good stuff
I could go on and on about all the fun had there

Can you build a tram overtop of a wilderness area as long as there are no actual towers in the wilderness?

I'd settle for a train platform over at 93 & 72 and the ski train having one additional stop from there to WP. I would actually consider riding it for the exorbitant prices they charge at the point.

This. If I could pick up the train there it would at least be an option.

More Wanker Park bitching: if you want to buy a season pass for next year (non-Ikon), you get no payment plan for early purchase, no benefits at all (WTF?), no kids pass free. It's fairly obvious that they simply don't want you to purchase a WP only pass.

Ironically, there was an avalanche accident yesterday on Freemont pass, first day that the Avy Rose went all green. What a year.

From what I heard: Two caught when a cornice released and set off a slide. Both lived, at least one injured.

Reading between the lines - partner didn't fall through, couldn't get down to his buddy that did fall through, and didn't have any way to communicate with him to see if he was ok?

    Yes

Imagine getting cliffed out on the rock choke with all that cornice still above...

Glad to have some more confirmation of the sense of my tendency to be a big fraidy cat around cornices, particularly when above them.

    Truth.

A few years back I had a close call when one broke on me 15' away. I was on the snow literally 1 foot from bare rock. The problem was that was the last solid ground on that side of the ridge. I fell 4-5 feet and my skis wedged, leaving me hanging on space ~10 feet up.

Cornices will fuck you hard and without warning.

You need to add an additional note. Note to self: when you think you are far enough from the cornice, move even farther away.

I'm sure this dude knew to stay away from cornices and thought he was far enough away.

Yeah, I wonder what the story is. Was he intending to ski it? I don’t think that there are really any other lines into that bowl, so I’d imagine so.

Doesn’t look skiable from the photo but maybe it got scoured to the rocks by the slide.

This would be my guess. Cornice fall causes avy that steps down to the ground.
