So are the Kings/Icons worth the money? Will it turn the 80 in to a trophy truck? I drive on a steep rutted gravel driveway daily so not just pavement pounder. Have OME springs, 3" (?) lift.

Never will be trophy style without a 3 or 4 link setup. King will get you close. icon just released their 80 stuff last year so who knows. Check out jcardova1’s thread on mud to see a badass linked setup. 80s are really to heavy and underpowered to get really dirty in the desert.

Yeah. Combine with my 35" tires and stock gear ratios... it's tough to pass anyone at the moment, let alone "get dirty". Debating at the moment about going 5.29 gears...

4.88s are the sweet spot unless you go huge on tires. That’s my next big move on my 80. My buddy just did it and it’s a huge difference.

So you're building up your truck to ascend and descend your driveway?

    :P

Okay, how about 37s? 4.88s or 5.29s? The local diff shop (who does a lot of land cruisers) suggested 5.29s.

Don't laugh. Ask some mags who have seen it. It gets bad.

Also, my wifes LX470 has ruined my idea of what a good ride is.

I’ve heard it’s a toss up. I think the ultimate would be 4.88s with a Marlin Crawler in the box for low range. I would take the guy whose putting it in advice before mine though. I’ll probably stick with 35s forever so 4.88s are ideal. 37s on a 3” is leaving a lot on the table. You lose articulation or you have to trim body panels. I have a 4” and it would be really tight...not sure it would work. Then at 4 and 5” you have to start replacing more parts. It’s a slippery slope that I’m dancing on right now.

I'm honestly not 100% what size lift i have, there is a lot of room in the wheel wells and I have a set of 37s sitting around... maybe I go full mall crawler and extend the bump stops so it doesn't flex. haha

I Tried a 37” just to see on 4” and it was either new stops or trimming. Unless it fell off, there should be a tag on your spring with the spring numbers that you decipher height from. Most OMEs are 2.5-3” depending on how heavy the rig is.

I don't mind removing the fender flares. 35s only rub at full stuff/full lock.

My flares are removed and 37s will touch. I've rubbed my 35s after getting all four tires off the ground. I'm sure that's not good on things but I bet it looked cool.

That eBay 80 seems clean. Not sure I’d drop $11k on it though.

The wife wants to go look at this one. Seems priced kind of high but looks pretty clean and is 3X locked.

Rebuilt title. I'd say the price is about 4-5k too high, which why it's been for sale for at least 6 months

Sounds like he will move a little on price but not enough to be close to reasonable IMO. but it appears to have a clean title FWIW

Can I muck up the thread with a 100 series question? Looking at a 2003 with 135k miles, pristine soccer mom condition but with a 2.5” OME lift. What’s it worth?

Lexus or Toyota? Lexus, around 10-11k, land cruiser, tackle on 1-2k.

The CO tax applies in this case. Not sure how much to value being able to see and drive vs buy sight unseen from FL and ship it.
