It’s dumping in Snowmass and the winds have slowed. Maybe 6” so far.

Vail/BC looking good for tomorrow. 6-10 if NOAA is on it. The Beat stake shows about 2" in the past hour.

Joel isn't the best forecaster on opensnow anymore. Chase has a better knack for the goods.

Bummer GB, hopefully something heads back that way.

Re Joel, I guess it’s debatable that he’s sent extra people to the mountains, I mean the network forecasters aren’t shy about saying it’s going to snow either. Be that as it may, to say he’s lying about the forecast to send people out on holiday is a heavy accusation. I guess I wouldn’t be shocked but my gut tells me no.

In any case skis are in the truck and I’m having fun somewhere tomorrow. Already a fresh 3 at basin and if Vail gets hammered I’ll head that way.

Maybe having access to a better snow forecast does help. But having access to a snow stake cam is even better than the most accurate forecast.

Just did some shoveling and it’s some damn light blower snow.

Just measured seven inches on our deck here in Boulder. Too bad we don't have a rope tow and some features in our yard.

Yeah, no shit, seein as how Eldora is reporting 3" sounds like you'd have the better conditions. I'm not sure I believe they only got 3" debating heading up there to find out for myself.

Ha you must be new here. Eldora hasn't under-reported snowfall since the Nixon Administration.

They reported 3", my guess is trace.

Incredible storm in Silverton put down 6 inches in less than 4 hours.
Spent the evening walking around town with 200 foot visibility. One of the most intense snowstorms I've ever been in.

Overnight total more like 12" in town.

550 closed from Molas to Ouray, trying to get to Aspen today.

First full 550 road closure in the San Juans. Happened a couple times last season but, from my friends in Silverton, this one sounded like a real badass blizzard. The getting should be good around here for a while.

The rest of February is looking damn good.

Damn vail was good today. Still a little crust under the pow on south facing aspects but overall very good.

Dumped snow all day and the mountain was pretty uncrowded considering it is Presidents’ Day week

Northwoods and blue sky basin had the goods. Snow seemed pretty heavy and wind affected in spots. Kinda slow moving too because it was so cold.

Damn it was sticky. Injury made it hard to skate, so I plodded along.
And then jacked my leg on the 4th run in some heavy stuff, and had to limp home. Been an up and down day.

I dug a 2m pit today, and didn't hit ground until 260cm. All but the top 20cm was finger hardness or more. Granted, I don't dig a lot of pits, but that's never happened before. What a strange season. Wind transport is crazy.
