The wisdom of the Orient. Researchers on platelet aggregation (platelets clumping is the precipitating factor for heart attacks) found that one of their colleagues had abnormally long aggregation times. He was Chinese and the cause was traced back to wood ears, a tree fungus commonly found in Sichuan food. We give aspirin for the same reason to protect the heart.

OTOH we took care of a Chinese patient who used the herbal medicine guijiu which contains the chemical podophyllin. We use it to burn venereal warts. In her the medicine caused complete permanent paralysis of her entire body. Her breathing was spared but in addition to the rest of her skeletal muscles being paralyzed her bowels were paralyzed so she was slowly filling up with shit.

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
It would be nice if the the anti vaxer/eastern medicine/guru freaks would read something like that and be like oh fuck! But no.

The source was on the advisory board when they made the decision to recommend everyone take the vaccine.

He says they decided to recommend to everyone because it was more convenient than recommending to the 75% they were recommending it to.

Sperm allergy, sometimes called semen allergy or seminal plasma hypersensitivity, is a rare allergic reaction to proteins found in a man's semen. It mostly affects women. Some common symptoms of sperm allergy are redness, swelling, pain, itching, and a burning sensation in the vaginal area.

Here's a fairly recent article titled "Food As Medicine: It's Not Just A Fringe Idea Anymore"
    https://www.npr.org/sections/thesalt...e-idea-anymore
Being that they called it a "fringe idea," I don't think it's as modern and western as you act like. There's a ton more articles if you look it up, referring to it as things like East meets West and generally talking about how we're FINALLY getting around to seeing it more accepted. We are constantly fighting the pill pushing industry, so there will still be quite a bit of both ideals. Again, it doesn't have to be one way or the other. Certainly tons of great cases for traditional pharmaceuticals, not denying that.

Which is awesome! I'm so glad to see the idea gaining traction.
Dude, I was being kind. The idea of good nutrition and dietitians is older than anyone on this board.

I can't believe how many truly ignorant/stupid people that are posting in this thread.

Equating scientists employed by the government to political appointees? Stating that the government said glyophosate is safe? There's been warning labels on glyophosate since I first used it in the early '80s when it was released. Completely lack of understanding of the scientific method. On and on and on. What a bunch of morons.

Hey DBS/SS, no one attacked your wife, they(I) attacked you for being a clueless idiot. Your wife may have been mentioned but it was in the context of your idiocy. You can't even comprehend what you read correctly.

That's not what the CDC says. That's not even what he says. Here is the reason for recommending universal vaccine:
"Discussion at the ACIP meeting focused on the value of protecting all people 19 to 49 years of age, who have been hard hit by the 2009 H1N1 pandemic virus, which is likely to continue circulating into next season and beyond. Another reason cited in favor of a universal recommendation for vaccination is that many people in currently recommended “higher risk” groups are unaware of their risk factor or that they are recommended for vaccination. The ACIP discussion also recognized the practicality and value of issuing a simple and clear message regarding the importance of influenza vaccination in the hopes that this would remove impediments to vaccination and expand coverage. Finally, new data collected over the course of the 2009 H1N1 pandemic indicates that some people who do not currently have a specific recommendation for vaccination may also be at higher risk of serious flu-related complications, including those people who are obese, post-partum women and people in certain racial/ethnic groups."

Oh he understands alright. If it were a question of understanding he would be reachable.
I understand the mistrust of the guvment. For the most part I don't trust the guvment. I trust the CDC, which has been relatively free of outside and political influence (that may change under Trump--see resignation of new director for buying tobacco stock after she was appointed). Very few of CDC's recommendations are for drugs, other than vaccines, which are not profitable. On the contrary one of the CDC's biggest initiatives is limiting antibiotic use. The biggest political issue with the CDC is that it is forbidden by law to study gun violence--but that's on Congress. Julie Gerberding who headed the CDC under Bush did join Merck's vaccine division after she left the CDC. Permanent staff at the CDC has been pretty much left alone by the political appointees, at least up until now. Wish I could say the same about the FDA.
I distrust big pharma as much as anyone. They also make drugs that keep a lot of us healthy and alive. Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater. Evaluate every drug and recommendation on its merits.

    better.

I know the world is full of toxins. The air is full of shit. The water is full of shit. Our food is full of shit. Our houses are full of shit. The toys our children play with are full of shit. So answer me this DBS--HOW COME THERE ARE 7 FUCKING BILLION OF US?!!!
I think you're on to something. We don't need vaccines, but we do need more and stronger toxins in our food, water, air, houses, and toys. We kill off enough of us and there won't be any more flu.

Reminder: Schools' immunization exclusion day Feb. 21

SALEM, Ore. - The Oregon Immunization Program is reminding parents that children will not be able to attend school or child care starting Wednesday, Feb. 21 -- School Exclusion Day -- if their records on file show missing immunizations.

State law requires that all children in public and private schools, preschools, Head Start and certified child care facilities have up-to-date documentation on their immunizations, or have an exemption.

"Immunization keeps schools and the entire community healthy and safe," said Stacy de Assis Matthews, school law coordinator in the Oregon Health Authority Public Health Division. "It is the best way to protect children against vaccine-preventable diseases such as whooping cough and measles."

Children whose school and child care vaccination records are not up to date on Feb. 21 will be sent home.

Local health departments in 2017 sent 29,932 letters to parents and guardians, informing them their children needed immunizations to stay in school or child care. A total of 4,646 children were kept out of school or child care until the necessary immunization information was turned in to the schools or child care facilities. Letters to parents were mailed on or before Feb. 7.

Parents seeking immunizations for their children should contact their health care provider or local health department, or call 211Info (dial 211 or go to 211info.org). No one can be turned away from a local health department because of inability to pay for required vaccines. Many pharmacists can immunize children 7 years and older. Parents should contact their neighborhood pharmacy for details.

Paul Cieslak, MD, medical director for the Oregon Immunization Program, said vaccines are a great way to protect children because they boost their bodies' natural defenses.

"Vaccines give kids the immunity they need without their having to suffer the illnesses," Cieslak said. "They're perhaps the best ounce of prevention kids can get."

More information on school immunizations is at the Immunization Program website at http://www.oregon.gov/OHA/PH/Prevent...ges/index.aspx. Follow the Oregon Immunization Program on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/OregonImmunize.

These people put urine in their eyes and the results are entirely predictable

If you haven’t come across ‘anti-vaxxers’ before – people who prefer to seek out alternatives to more obvious solutions like vaccination – check this out.

Over on Twitter, Alistair Coleman belongs to an ‘anti-anti-vaxxers’ group – you with me? – and he found this.

For internet responses follow title link - there's some good comedy there. LOL!
