If I'm not mistaken, it's more an Eastern approach that Western Medicine has more recently incorporated. It's certainly gaining traction though. Many nutritionists are definitely on the other end of the spectrum from standard modern, though. Often working hand in hand with chiropractors and acupuncturists if you know what I'm saying. Seems it's one of the practices though that is kind of a good middle ground that most sides seem to agree with on some level.

Dietitians or Nutritionists have been around in western medicine for decades.

    “To eat is a necessity,
but to eat intelligently is an art.”

    ~ La Rochefoucauld (1613-1680)

    The History of Nutrition

In 400 B.C. the Greek physician Hippocrates, the “Father of Medicine” said, “Let thy food be thy medicine and thy medicine be thy food.” Hippocrates realized that food impacts a person’s health, body and mind to help prevent illness as well as maintain wellness.

In Hippocrates’ Greece, as well as across pre-modern Europe and Asia since ancient times, foods were used to affect health. For instance, the juice of liver was squeezed on the eye to treat eye diseases, connected to Vitamin A deficiency. Garlic was used to cure athlete’s foot, and eating ginger was thought to stimulate the metabolism.

In 1747, a British Navy physician, Dr. James Lind, saw that sailors were developing scurvy, a deadly bleeding disorder, on long voyages. He observed that they ate only nonperishable foods such as bread and meat.

Lind’s experiment fed one group of sailors salt water, one group vinegar, and one group limes. Those given limes didn’t develop scurvy. And although Vitamin C wasn’t discovered until the 1930s, this experiment changed the way physicians thought about food, creating a market for nutrition careers.

It's indisputable that formaldehyde is toxic. New plywood off gases formaldehyde vapor, so we choose to use plywood without formaldehyde. Dex calls that magical and mysterious.

Serious question why not reduce the amount of toxins in your home?

Except for government funded science. Look at the EPA right now.

I want suggesting vaccines cause cancer and autism. Only that we don't know what is, so I try and avoid anything not natural.

We remodeled our house to be toxin free, we eat mostly organic, we don't have televisions or microwaves in the house, we don't carry our phones in our pockets and don't hold them to our ears, etc...
Your source is CNN. Great. The interviewee--who doesn't represent the CDC--doesn't say the vaccine is unnecessary for low risk groups and is only recommended for convenience. The advantage of vaccinating everyone, besides the fact that the flu does kill low risk people, is that if you get the flu and recover no big deal you may pass it on to someone who is high risk and kill them.

All paints and finished used in our home are extremely low or zero voc. Cabinetry is all formaldehyde free. All cleaning products are non toxic. All mattresses are organic latex. Bedding is organic cotton. No fire retardants. Flooring is green guard certified. Subfloor is formaldehyde free soy glue based plywood.

You all can call me as much of a kook as you want, but having an allergen free home is pretty amazing.
People die from latex allergy. Hope none of your house guests are allergic.

Yeah, decades. Not that long. Totally was not a normal thing when I was a kid. Back then (the 80s), I remember it being something you'd check into when your chiropractor or acupuncturist referred to it. Same circles of people. Now it's seeing widespread adoption and as normal, Western medical practicioners are acting like they came up with it.

Being that they called it a "fringe idea," I don't think it's as modern and western as you act like. There's a ton more articles if you look it up, referring to it as things like East meets West and generally talking about how we're FINALLY getting around to seeing it more accepted. We are constantly fighting the pill pushing industry, so there will still be quite a bit of both ideals. Again, it doesn't have to be one way or the other. Certainly tons of great cases for traditional pharmaceuticals, not denying that.

The wisdom of the Orient. Researchers on platelet aggregation (platelets clumping is the precipitating factor for heart attacks) found that one of their colleagues had abnormally long aggregation times. He was Chinese and the cause was traced back to wood ears, a tree fungus commonly found in Sichuan food. We give aspirin for the same reason to protect the heart.

OTOH we took care of a Chinese patient who used the herbal medicine guijiu which contains the chemical podophyllin. We use it to burn venereal warts. In her the medicine caused complete permanent paralysis of her entire body. Her breathing was spared but in addition to the rest of her skeletal muscles being paralyzed her bowels were paralyzed so she was slowly filling up with shit.

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

Point being that the EPA can't be trusted now because the impartial scientists have been replaced by political cronies.

Also look up what's been done with glyphosate. Government been saying it's safe, it isn't.

    An example: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3945755/

Again, you all are to trusting of the government.

LOL! It didn't just happen. How cute. My friend's mother has been a hospital dietitian since the 1950s and she was far from the first.
