Still no pics, but finally had a chance today to ski these in the conditions for which they were meant. Two laps down Middle Cirque and four laps in Mineral Basin. Everything from knee deep untouched (Mineral) to slightly ski'd out Cirque runs. I tried driving the tips, worked great; centered stance, worked great, pressured the tails, worked great. You get the picture. I'm 6'1" 230 lbs and no tip dive. They went exactly where I pointed them and they released across the fall line with zero effort. They really didn't give a shit how they were driven or what the conditions were. The snow today was really good actually, just enough body so we didn't go all the way through to the shitty base layer every time. Very confidence inspiring. I really love my Spurs from last year because of how much I trust them to hold the line when up on an edge. They're unshakable to me. The SG's have 95% of that same feeling but are truly effortless to me in the difficult stuff, where the Spurs can feel a little tail heavy sometimes. I'm trying not to sound like an ON3P fanboy, but seriously they fucking nailed it with this ski. Mine are stiff flex FYI. Probably could've gotten away with the double layer of carbon but I think it would be a little more work for someone of my cardio level. I think the stiff flex is money for me.
PS: In true ON3P fashion, I hit some shit today that would've destroyed my other skis and these things came away with a slight scratch. Bomber.

6/205/stock flex SGs.

I’ve only skied them in decent to awesome snow. They work great in almost all conditions IMO. The only place I struggle is in shallow snow + very narrow + steep; they are fast! if I do not get some space, speed can get scary very quickly. I typically avoid those areas on the SGs; too much work.

In powder they are as expected for the size; good.
On groomers they are surprisingly good for the size.
In heavily cut-up powder / crud etc they are amazing! Words cannot do them justice in those conditions. Confidence goes to 11.

Crud etc: aggressive forward stance.
Pow/groomers: more neutral stance.

I actually sold my 108 Wrens shortly after getting the SGs(!)
Blasphemy on TGR I guess, but almost every time I was on the Wrens, I was missing the SGs.
Will probably pair the SGs up with something <100mm <20m radius for goofing around when skiing with the wife.

(Should not make a huge difference, but I screwed up big time and ended up -0.5 (313 BSL) …still keeps me up at night.)

Been A/B-ing last years 189 BGs to my Aevergreene SG’s the past few days, at Squaw Valley. Skiing untracked, tracked out, choppy powder bumps, and all that good stuff.

Both are soooo good. Almost too good, I just wanna keep skiing them for another week, even though all the fresh snow is getting packed down. Aeverflex isnt really any more difficult to ski, but it does have a lot more “backbone” when you need it. It feels like a beefier 191 Wren and BG had a mutant lovechild. That being said, stock BG flex is still plenty of ski, and can be rallied hard through choppy/chundery powder bumps. SGs better for straightlining, but still easy to pivot. Regular BGs better for bumps and super tight spots. It’s as you’d expect. The difference between the two is more than I expected (which is good, means I can keep both!), but not “night and day” different obviously.

I have no problems with the Asym, and I dont have to ski them centered whatsoever. I can drive the shit out of them, and they feel like they hook up like a normal ski. I couldn’t do that with my praxis skinny Quixotes, which were too “turny” for me on their outside edge. On3p has done a great job refining the asymmetry. I couldnt even drive my 2015 191 BGs like this either, or else they would pivot. Great job On3p.

The SG’s are phenomenal. More stable than 191 wrens (almost up there with Head Monsters), yet with all that RES pivot-ability goodness. Aeverflex isnt hard to ski if you’re over 200lbs and like to let your skis run. Perfect flex for charging hard, whereas I believe stock BGs are “playful chargers” for heavier folks who ski hard. I can almost find the speed limit on regular BG’s, but it’s still quite high.. with the SG’s, the sky is the limit.

What bsl are you? I have 191 wrens and 191 BGs... both 10/11-11/12 era... maybe swap out a run or 2? I’m a 317 fks

My 191s didn't hit their speed limit in that same zone. Further proof super goats aren't as good as 191.

Kopi_red brought his Stiff SG to Silver this weekend and was kind enough to let me take them for a spin.
Silver had been getting pounded all week with snow. We were skiing 2+feet of blower with over that loaded in the trees.
I started the day on ProTest then switched to to the SG after lunch. It was plug and play as far as stance goes and carving them on groomers. This ski is really edgy and can carve incredibly well on soft groomers. Just stomp straight down, don't drive the tips, any they will rail with ease. I tried to pressure the tips just to see how they behaved and they wanted to slide almost wash out as I predicted due to their shape.
On to Powder performance.
Super easy to ski in pow. Pivots extremely well at slow speed, tails release easily. Only issue I had was when hauling ass down on smooth packed snow on a steeper face and coming into tighter terrain where you needed to really set a turn in fresh deep snow, the tips would plow really bad instead of carrying you through the snow and sending you through the turn. ProTest do non of that. Maybe it was a technique thing not sure as I tried the same line a few times adjusting my weight with similar results. I had the same plow effect at slower speed when really pushing a turn to avoid trees where the ProTest would carry more speed through the turn and exiting the turn. I attribute that to the widest point on the ProTest being closer to the boot as opposed to the SG where it is up near the shovel. I didn't have this issue on wide open runs where I could keep high turn radius turns. The SG is more about pow carving than surfing. Not bad just different. It skis pow very similar to the Lhasa FAT, another of my all time favorites. The SG skis fresh pow really well, easy to ski but inmho the ProTest is a better untracked pow ski.
Cut up pow performance is fucking bad ass. Just stand on them and destroy everything and anything in its way. This is where the ski will allow a little more forward stance and the tips will just destroy and thing in the way allowing a nice smooth ride for the rest of the ski. Big fast turns are silly fun in the chop. The ski is just so damn damp and stable. You can literally be hauling ballz, set the edge, pour a cup of tea and enjoy it without spilling a drop though cut up snow.
I was a little concerned since these are the stiff version. I originally suspected the stock flex would suit me better and it may since I haven't skied them, but I had zero issue with the stiff flex. It didn't make them unruly and the shape allows you to smear/pivot in tighter spaces where you may be able to carve the softer flex.
I'm now seriously considering buying this ski.
Tldr; Great fucking ski. You buy now.
5'10", 195 strong athletic build and the 193 didn't feel long at all.
Oh yeah, with P18's they are heavy as fuck, which I only noticed on the chair. Loved the weight on snow. So damp and quiet.

Hey Funky,

Are the SGs different enough from the Lhasa Fats to warrant owning both?
I wanted to join the group buy, but had reverse elephantitis of the wallet.
What flex did you ski? (I'm a fly weight @ ~145#, but strong like bull!; standard flex for me if get the SGoat).
