Took the kiddo to Brighton this morning. The beaters were out in force and finally became too much for us. Full contact skiing.

9990 is open. I don't know whether to be impressed or appalled that Vail's fun police are allowing me to sidestep on rocks and tree stumps, but the Mrs. and I had the pleasure of doing so today.

The fat bike ride I went on this afternoon was probably more fun, though I hate to admit it.

I'll be interested to read the avy report just outside of alta yesterday morning. Sounds like it was a guided group of 10-15 (!!!?!) and having 4 people caught means they weren't really adhering to standard avy terrain protocol. easy to armchair with only hearing hearsay so hoping for a thorough report from Utah Avy center. I think I saw the group as I was getting to the bottom of the summer road after skiing yesterday around 10 am. the group size definitely had me doing a double take as I skied by....
Tyson Bradley led group. 11 skiers 3 guides, 8 clients. 3 caught in slide. Apparently 3 clients on slope at same time. Hard to understand how that happened.

So this is 2 seasons in a row that Tyson Bradley has had clients caught in slides? Seems to be becoming an issue.

Was there another one other than the fatality? That one was the 2015-16 season.

Let’s don’t start bs about Tyson just yet please? Maybe take it to the Slide Zone and keep it civil?

I don't know man. If it's true it looks bad and should be discussed here so that others might know about the outfits recent issues.

This hits close to home as the avie death was a friend of mine.

I wouldn't grab pitchforks til things are fully confirmed (maybe they have been)

Ya I actually heard about the incident from my buddy who patrols at Alta and was called to the scene. I didn't want to reveal who until Utah Avalanche Center released their report. Too bad their report was very lacking and they fail to even mention how a guided group has 3 people on a slope at one time during considerable danger with dragons lurking everywhere. I think they do the public a disservice when they do this 'nothing to see here" vague ass avy report. I think they have an obligation to public safety to out a company if it is continuing to put their clients in harm's way

Yeah super scary. I mean accidents happen, but seems like something is missing in some protocols. Few too many incidents in last few years for them. It should be mentioned in the report, sorry if it may hurt a local companies profits. To me lives are more important than getting clients out just cause they paid.

word. imagine the tone of the write-up if this had NOT been a guided group.

The whole thing is pretty fucked up. I think you’ll see more when they update the report.

Maybe I was overly harsh as I think the company does a good job overall. Shit happens ya know. It just appears the avy center is intentionally vague in their investigation reports involving this particular company.

The report that detailed the fatal accident two years ago kind of led the reader to believe that the client didn't follow direction with its vagueness. A well written report doesn't lead the reader anywhere, it speaks in definitives.

They know where some of their bread is buttered. Unfortunately that may hurt others. Sad really.

Well what a coincidence but this is exactly what Tyson is saying again. That they didn't follow directions. Seems odd

WASATCH STOKE, CONDITIONS, OBSERVATIONS AND ASSORTED DRIVAL 17-18

^^^ I’ve been cat skiing and guide is like ok one at a time with buddy and then first person goes and all others except me got panicked they will miss Powder and everyone goes
I’ve also seen people flat out ignore the guides Guide scolds them and people tell guide they paid good money and don’t have to listen to the guide.
Not saying this did or did not happen here but I’ve seen some real bad guests also.
I need to go to Utah.
    Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?

So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....

Thanks BCSAR and POWMOW Ski Patrol for rescues
