But since she puts it on the door behind her counter and then sprays hairspray in that general direction it will either stand-up on it's own, or self-ignite. So, time for a new one. Thanks

BTW guys - that Origins gift pack is perfect. So good that I got it the first time that KQ suggested, then again the 2nd year (because I'm dumb and didn't remember I gave it the first year), she was still happy on year 2.
Oy vey - the world of bathrobes is crazy! Esp. when buying online where you can't physically see or feel the item.

Couple of things you should check on the robe before you replace it:

    1. Does it have ties on the inside? I have to have these on my robes - hate when they keep falling open.
    2. Pockets - on seam (along the side) or patch on the front or none at all.
    3. Does it have a hood and does she like that feature?
    4. What is the fabric?

Also, you might try and remember if she's had any complaints about it like length, weight, fabric, pockets or lack-there-of etc. Finally - consider just checking the tag - maybe you can replace it for the exact same robe provided she was happy with it.

That said, here are some suggestions:

Eddie Bauer is still having a 50% off sale! I don't have this robe but I have their short sleep cardigan and love it (I know of at least one Maggot who bought it for wife/GF and said she was thrilled with it). It is unfortunate this doesn't come in more colors:

    WOMEN'S LONG SLEEP CARDIGAN

also comes striped (why don't they list them together? Weird.)

WOMEN'S LONG SLEEP CARDIGAN - STRIPE

    _______________________________

40% off at Land's End - they have both a terry and a fleece robe. I was going to post up links and recommend them but after reading the reviews I'm going to give it a pass. Seems like people think their fabric choices aren't as great as they used to be.

Whoo boy... just got off LLBean's site too and the reviews are much like LE's - diminished quality from years past. Disappointing!

    ____________________________

This one at Overstock got good reviews - only complaint is that the fabric is lighter than some expected. I like the collar and the colors are nice:

Women's Sherpa Collar Super Soft Plush Robe

This one looks nice/has good reviews. Again on the lighter side. Only comes in size S/M:

    Luxurious Spa Bath Robe S/M

Here's one that is HEAVY but it is unisex. If your lady is petite it might not work for her. Comes in a nice rose color but only in sizes sm or lg.

Salbakos Ultra-Thick Turkish Cotton Shawl Collar Navy Blue Unisex Bath Robe

    ___________________________

    On to Nordy's!

I like the looks of this one and it comes in a pretty soft pink! This robe is online only so unfortunately you can't run to the store and check it out but the reviews are overall positive with the main complaints being 1. heavier than expected and 2. runs large for petite ladies. Oh, and the plum color is more grey than pictured.

Comes in a pretty powder pink:

    CozyChic® Robe

Not a full length but got great reviews:

    'Nirvana' Midi Robe

This pretty much says it all about the above:

    5 out of 5 stars
    Best robe!
I am very picky about my bathrobes and I love this one!
Three things make it just right:
    - light weight and breathable
    - 3/4 length sleaves avoid wet wrists when washing dishes or my face in the morning
-length keeps you warm but allows freedom of movement
    Highly recommend

Good reviews but some found it lighter than they would have liked:

    NATORI - Plush Velour Robe

Nice terry robe which seems to be hard to come by these days:

    Nordstrom Terry Velour Robe

    ____________________

From Backcountry.com (both also available at Macy's, Nordstrom and Zappos but not in all colors):

    Ugg 'Karoline' Fleece Robe

    16 reviews, all 5 stars!

and another Ugg with good reviews. FYI - some reviewers suggest ordering up if you want a loose fitting robe.

    UGG Duffield Robe - Women's

    ______________________________

    Macy's

    Dimple Contrast Long Robe

Nautica - Textured Plush Wrap Robe

    _______________

Hope this helped and didn't make it more confusing. Robes are a world unto themselves!

BTW - I have a GF who waits expectantly every Christmas for the Origins gift pack I send her. She's always happy with the same thing though I do try to mix it up from time to time.

LOL! Might unless she's been complaining about dry skin and not being able to find something she liked. A better gift would be a certificate to a spa for a facial. Bonus would be if said spa carried a product line she could purchase for home use. Where are you? If you're in Seattle or Yakima I would say Ummelina Day Spa. I still buy my stuff there even though I live in W2.

    Question for KQ Claus,

I'd like to get my new girlfriend an Amazon Echo, can you tell me how the voice recognition works? She has a parrot and she's probably okay with the thing requesting songs when nobody else is home. But is there a way to make sure it doesn't start ordering stuff from the store?

Har-har. As someone who had a Macaw for 35 years I can tell you your GF will be safe from random orders.

I'm a leather girl myself. Love the look, feel and smell of leather.

These chestnut ones are nice. No need to get complicated about it. They should be simple, like your safe word.

P.S. You might consider picking up a matching collar

And another perennial. What's this year's affordable device for keeping an opened bottle of wine fresh? My wife likes her nightly vino. And I am an enabler. I also want some occasionally, however I am much less OK with Chateaux D'Cardboard than she is. So keeping that nicer bottle of something a little fresher and longer would be nice.

How much you looking to spend? These bad boys keep wine fresh (theoretically) for months or longer. Kinda spendy though

Thanks for the gift ideas for my mom. Now another question: My anniversary, Christmas and my wife's birthday are all within 8 days of each other, so I'm always struggling for gift ideas. This year, we are closing on our new house (hopefully) the week before Christmas, so I was thinking of trying to find a good housewarming-type gift as well. Any good ideas? The google's always have this lame, overly cheesy DIY shit when you look for housewarming gifts.

I use VacuVin. I used to use gas (can of stuff I got at the local wine shop) but the wine guy told me a side-by-side showed the VacuVin worked just as well if not better.

Seen it priced from $7.20 (Amazon) to $25 at Williams Sonoma. Be sure and pick up extra stoppers!

New house gift? How established are you (i.e. are you pretty much set for everything?). Maybe something to hang in the new house that celebrates/memorializes your marriage/wedding like this:

Intersection of Love - Photo Print

Perhaps something for the front door/patio to commemorate your new home and the year you moved in (this is a Google search so you can see all the different sellers and prices):

Personalized Crock With Name And Year

Or... how about a tree or shrub to mark the move and celebrate your life together? If you live in an area that supports rhododendrons that is a lovely choice esp. since you may be able to find one named after something that is important to you both. This isn't a very chipper story but.... I had some friends whose daughter was an Olympic skier who died in a freak accident. As a memorial to her I gave them a Rhody called "snow lady". I wasn't sure if it meant much to them but evidently it did because when they moved they told me they took the rhody with them. Sigh.... soooo miss Rhodys. They don't really like eastern Washington like they do western.

Small tokens: You could get a dated Christmas ornament or one that is a house. I really LOVE Old World Christmas ornaments. They are soooooooooo beautiful and sparkly and they come in nice boxes that you can use to store them in.

    Our New Home Glass Ornament

Maybe you could work with something you already have like getting a wedding or family photo re-framed.

A special doorbell/knocker? I have one of Michael Healy's bronze sun doorbells and just love it. They are backlit so you can see them at night:

    Michael Healy Designs

How about something to warm her heart AND keep her warm?

    Personalized Tree Throw

Am I hitting on anything here? Got something else on your mind that you can't quite find? Come on - I'll brainstorm some more with you!

Thanks KQ! Some of these we have covered already. We started getting one ornament a year with the date on it and adding it to our tree. This year we got a really cool one from Amsterdam. A few years back we got one with a dog on it for when we got our puppy, etc.

I do like the idea of framing something up. She got a few posters from Sheppard Farey (sp?) during the Women't March stuff in January that have been sitting in a roll. Maybe I'll have them framed and hung up in the office.

For her birthday I ALWAYS end up getting her something warm. This year I am getting her this Sleep Cardigan which I think you posted above or another thread. I'm also getting her some kind bath caddy for holding a book and glass of wine when she's in the bathtub.

I was trying to find some Tulip bulbs to get her (she's Dutch, loves tulips, just went to Amsterdam), but I think I missed the season, which is a bummer. Not sure if you can plant them in winter, or store them til spring and still have them bloom? I know absolutely zero about gardening. But she likes it and we will have a flower bed in front of the house. Any good gardening stuff? She has basics like a trowel and hand rake, but that's basically it.

It's hard to come up with three thoughtful gifts all at once that aren't just more ski gear!

That sleep cardigan is the bomb. I really love mine.

Some belts are snake skin. Ow, leather with snake skin details, how's that sound santa KQ?
