    Snow was still sick in the trees with many fresh lines when I left at 2:30, even the tracked snow was nice and soft and chargy. Stoke meter was pegged all day and hearing all the hoots and hollers was awesome. I rode my ProTest until noon then switched to the Vicik.
    No. I decided to only bring my rock skis which worked fine. Me and my buddies were hucking it and occasionally hitting/scraping trees and rocks. My good skis would have been fine to use but I think it would have held me back from going all out since i would be worried about hitting something.

    It's hard to take the chance of hitting something when you spend almost 600 dollars on skis lol

    Cool. Where were you "hucking" it?
    None of the good hits are even open let alone enough coverage to send them.

    These two ideas seem to disagree. Logic of an early season hucker... 😬

    Looks like a good time

    Totally. Skis are nothing compared to the cost of ending your season.

    Nothing too dangerous. Plenty of powder to absorb the fall. I wasn't skiing too hard to hurt myself badly either. It's only the first day of the season. My point was having to worry about damaging good skis or to be able to ski hard and not worrying about damaging skis.

    Sweet man. You should hit me up sometime, I'll rip around Silver with ya. I'm old though but I'll try not to slow you down. I like to see others take on a mountain I've been skiing for a while

    Here are a couple pictures from Lookout on Friday. Should be even better after the reset and resurfacing!

    2Funky, I was there for 1st Gondi one of these days we should compare our favorite runs. Got plenty of runs in but I could feel things underfoot.

    Pretty sure I saw you. I was about third car. I did not feel anything under foot but I was rolling on 128 mm. Protest FTMFW

    Was on the rock skis 94 underfoot. No hard hits but I kept feeling things, kept me Alpine skiing.

    the few runs open at 49N weren't too bad today: a bit of debris and
    small bare spots on top, very fun;
    about mid-way, things got sporty, more debris, melt-outs and snirt;
    the bottom of Sunrise Basin, where Bugaboo and Big Bear bottleneck
    was a complete shitshow; many people stopping, taking of their boards,
    walking, all along the only WROD down; no place for a beginner
    and no mountain staff to direct traffic;
    think i will check out the BC tomorrow ..........
