I come on here to discuss ski/bike stoke, along with gear, but the timeline is filled with all this junk lately. That’s where it becomes a nuisance for me. I have to weed through a bunch of horse shit just to find the ski threads.

My first response was a quick, dumb answer on my part..

That would barely affect any PR posters, and really help control all this complaining. It would take only 3 seconds to enter the password, and PR posters would have no difference after that. But those who do not enter the password, would have no more reason to bitch.

you do realize that there are other ways to look at threads than the timeline, right? On the app, you can browse to ski/snowboard, and whoa, there are all the threads for you in one place, ordered by most recently posted in. Wow, isn't that cool? Using the timeline is your way of saying "I want to see all of what is happening in TGR in one place". That includes the Padded Room. Fuck, the PR is where all the OGs hang out. If you don't want to see all of TGR lumped together, use another way of seeing TGR. Fuck trying to impose your whiny "there's too many non-skiing threads" on the rest of us.

Over the summer/fall, I think this place has changed into a worse version, dramatically. Many others think that as well. As moderators, I would think you guys care about this sort of stuff, but I guess not?

I dont understand how a password would hurt PR, but I can see how it would help. If it’s too much work, than maybe we need a mod who doesnt think its “too much”?

You guys are right though. If we dont like it here the way it is, GTFO. I am seriously contemplating giving up this awesome resource. If it weren’t for On3p/Praxis/gear stoke, along with BBi and Local stoke, I would have gave it up months ago. Maybe its time for me stop bitching, show myself the door, and get my information elsewhere.

Say I enter the poly ass password and it’s on my timeline then.. When I delete the app, and re-download it, poly ass automatically gets off the timeline and again needs a password to be accessed.

The Padded Room doesn’t work like that. There is no way to get it off.

I agree using the “browse” part helps this, but then I end up missing some cool stuff because I didnt search each and every corner of the board. The timeline is awesome, easy and quick, and I just wish it was moderated differently.

I'm pretty sure you can already do that...not that I use the functionality, but you subscribe to threads etc. I guess that is one step to many for some.

It probably gets back to the fact that some people are just wired to complain at all times...nothing will every be good enough and taking personal responsibility for what content they look at is a bridge too far.

It did at one point.

There was upset at the time that people using somewhat more intrusively monitored work connections would not want to click the "I agree to see adult images" waiver becasue it would get caught up in a sniff test.

I say just bookmark the Ski/snowboard forum and then click thru the forums - tech talk/ trip reports etc from there
since those actually sadly have less activity you'll probably gain some time in your day by just checking that a couple times a day and not getting sucked into the PR

the app's "participated" feed is great. All the threads you've posted in. Every now and then I look at "unread" to pick up on new stuff. I honestly never use the "timeline".
