I am struggling a little bit with this myself right now. Would love some input.
All old non-touring skis have been sold, and I had pretty much decided on BG+Wren98 as my new resort quiver. (Tested the 13/14 BG last season and loved it)
However, I came across a new 40% off 16/17 191 CD today. Immediately after, I noticed a Norwegian retailer giving 15% off on ON3P preorders and that offer expired later today. I preordered a 184 Wren108 to go with the CD (but still haven’t bought the CD)
The BG/W98 quiver probably makes more sense. I imagine those skis would be used 50/50.
The CD/W108 I guess would end up more like 10/90(?)
I really don’t think I would miss the 98 that often; the 108 will probably serve me well even on the hardest days. the dilemma I’m having now is with the BG vs CD.
Given that I have already bought the 108; when conditions are right for a BG, most of the time it would be ok for a CD as well. And of course, the few really deep days would be even more fun with the CD.
Ideally, I would wait with the second ski until I have tried the Wren, but the "cheap" CD will most likely sell before then…
I was in a slightly different position--I purchased a BG early this summer and then was deciding between the Wren 108 and Wren 98 later on after realizing I needed another pair for this year. Even though the waist width is similar, I decided to go for the Wren 108, as I just generally prefer the added stability in chop/weird snow that skis of that width provide over a 98mm ski. My perspective is that the Wren 108 will be a bit more work and a bit less quick edge to edge than a Wren 98 on firm snow, but I'm not sure actual edge grip will differ than much. The rocker profile is very similar on all the Wrens. If it's truly bulletproof, I can pull out the 80-something mm underfoot, fully cambered skis.
I would get the BG if I were you.
Get some C&Ds after you already become friends with the Billy Goats. Explore just how deep that friendship can get, and enjoy making new discoveries on just how hard you can push yourself in 3D Chop. Get C&Ds as your dessert, whereas Wrens are your main course and BGs are your Beer or drink of choice..
Unless you really like dessert, and your mountain gets tons of snow. Like 500" (1250cm) or more per year. Then go ahead and get C&Ds. By all means.
BG and Wrens make a great two ski quiver. If your mountain gets a decent amount of snow, youll probably use both equally. If you need something for carving ice, get something cheap from your local bargain bin, otherwise wrens and BGs will handle 95% of anything else you can throw at them.
C&D is probably not going to get as much use. I havent skied them yet, but I can tell they are a "quiver ski". Its only 124mm yes, but the tip rocker profile is absolutely wild.

I couldn't decide either so I got the 98 and the 108 wren. The 108 for days after storms and the 98 for my new daily driver. My BG doesn't see any action on my home mountain, never gets deep enough. So you're pretty much on the money.
I always prefer fatter, so if I lived around PNW the BG and 108 Wren would be my go to quiver.
I concur—BG + W108 makes a lot of sense.
189 BG will cover 95% of pow days.
I own the 202 Lotus 138 (which is an absurd amount of float for my 160# frame), and the only place I think it definitely outguns the BG is at very slow speeds, especially putting in traverses, across flat spots, etc. I've said this a million times here, but I once switched from the 202 L138 to the 191 BG on a 79" in 24-hrs (200 cm) day because I had just bought the BG—I thought I'd ski them for a few runs and switch back but never felt like going back. YMMV.

Accurate except one thing. That day was 39" overnight.
79" sounds good though.

39" overnight and 79" in 24 hrs. Thanks for the correction.

Funny timing, but I am actually working on a Cease and Desist (2018 Asym and Offset) product clip right now that was done by our Athlete, Rex late last Spring.
CD = Deep snow, fast, big lines, spines, but planing on top
BG = All those things, but more down "in it"
There have been a handful of days where I was undergunned on my 189/191 BG and really wish I had my CD, especially to plane on top of snow in flatter sections and when it literally was 100" in 10 days and untouched (Monarch, CO last year).
I feel the CD actually makes more sense in lighter, more blower type snow that is super deep vs coastal snow where 70" and 10" skis the same. When you are up to your balls in pow and if you stop you sink, the CD is a better option.
You should have been here yesterday!
I'm an idiot.
I also bought a Cease and Desist this year. Replacing a 191 BG tour - going to see if I still need a BG with a Wren 108 and Kartel 108 in the mix.
Sweet. If you're still in the PNW, I'd happily borrow them![]()

So Japow?
Exactly!!
I'm honestly considering one, they just look so much fun. The only worry I have is that it would make my BG obsolete. I know that sounds absolutely crazy but my BG is for travelling, we dont get enough snow at home to warrant it. I can travel with two pairs so it would be the CD and BG... OR CD and 108W (which makes more pracical sense). I dont want to replace my BG so probably not the ski for me...?
Are the newer tour layup c&ds less "pivoty" than the BG?? Or more pivoty?

Cool. I figured it was more pivoty than the BG, but that long turn radius had me wondering.
It sounds like an excellent deep pow ski. I cant wait to finally get on it this season.

Before we put it out over social media - and since we haven't had shirts in, literally, years - figured I would let everyone know we did get a small batch of shirts in today.
https://shop.on3pskis.com/collections/clothing
This is just a start - small run, limited options. We're just dipping our toes so there will be more clothing coming - including hoodies - but since a lot of people have asked us directly, I figured people might want to snag one before we put them out over social media.
Seriously, this can’t turn into yet another ON3P thread....
^Nice. Done.
