Ski resorts aren't real life in my opinion...but when you barely ski, you have to do what it takes to get your fix. Full disclosure, the almost 9 year old was in the plush chairs in the Olympic House lounging with a drink and some candy...wouldn't do that with my 6 year old

Ski resorts are one of the last safe communal places in our world. I guess they seem like real life to me because I work at one. Different perspective when you are there 7 days a week and your family is there 2-3.

Think her slough caught her tails as she turned in narrows.
    ...Ski faster right...?

Some significant wet slough action on steeper stuff. 75-Chute had like a lumpy river on certain sections on that last day.

She is getting better, but we are gonna pass on skiing this weekend, at least.
    A shame doh.

But then, anything involving snow sliding could be said to be the same: in trouble in the BC? Peeps will always help. Sometimes too much, but that's another thread.

Today I saw this at Squaw. A rather nice monoski setup for June conditions.

As of yesterday re: CP conditions, blue lakes road is open only halfway a little past faith valley. I'm waiting for it to go all the way to blue lakes for deadwood peak access.

I'm going to be up at donner tomorrow and hoping for an overnight freeze

Still some really good skiing in the CP area. Sisters face and Cali chute were both real nice.

In case you were wondering how the backside of Kirkwood looks these days:

Sky Tavern skied exceptionally well this mid-morning.

Vets has the pix to prove it.

We did all right. Late 9am start but mostly frozen overnight and then the clouds kept temps low enough for one nice lap in the castle back bowls

    Nice!

Yeah, that cloud cover kept everything we skied off Mt. Rose Hwy yesterday decent well into the mid-afternoon.

Out of curiosity, where did you start your approach for the Castle Peak back bowls (and by the looks of your pix, you were kind of south east of the peak itself, above Coon Canyon). Also, how long was the approach, because, believe it or not, I've only skied that area in the summer and fall when it's a dry approach.

poked around Independence Lake today. Road is "technically" closed due to flooding, but you can ford the river if you've got a Tacoma (at the very least).
ran into some old dudes on motorcycles and ATVs. they said the road to Independence Peak was blocked with snow a few miles up.
the lake was virtually empty (they have not yet set up their free kayaks and motorboats). i hiked around the south side of the lake and skied a few patches off the ridge there. snow was decent, sun-cupped, but smooth.
Jackson Meadows Road (the main paved road) was blocked about 10 miles in. i ran into some sled necks and they'd gone out to Meadow Lake; said Meadow Lake Road still had 4-7 feet of snow covering it, depending on the area. they also said that Meadow Lake was still frozen and that they'd ridden their sleds across it!
gonna be a spell before Mt. Lola and the surrounding slopes are accessible, unless you have a sled.
the north side of Lola is looking sweet, though...

I skied what looks like the same area last week and started at the rest stop on 80

Do you think Deadwood will still be stacked by the time they get the road open to blue lakes?

General predictions for snow cover around July 1st in general? I'll be up at the Kw cabin over the weekend and trying to plan a ski day outing.
