when i got to dead tree bowl i wanted no part of skinning across the bowl since the road is gone from the slide path on the far side, but my first objective was on the other side.
so i skinned up a bit and skied down the safer skiers right side, and then skinned up through the trees beyond the slide path.
Thanks for the report. Since when do you need a permit to park at Carson pass? I've been doing it for years with no problem.

Also thanks for the snow update, I was going to do a solo mission into Melissa coray chutes but the multiple layers combined with the big warming today plus solo is throwing too many flags for me. True spring will be here soon enough...

A sno park permit is required from something like November 1 to May 30 or a $93.50 fine it's all over the signs there.

Yeah, but that lift serve is going to stop. I only got as far as radio tower this year (which is the actual Melissa Coray), but no Cali peak, AK face and it has been years since I played in the Tits. So sad. And this is my first year in some time not doing at least one CP to KW tour. Even through the drought.

Well, since you spend alot of time there as well, figured you'd know to use your poles...

p.s. Just giving you sh*t. I'll post some vid up for heckling.

This is my level. These lines were scary for me last season, very reasonable for me yesterday. Can you tell my JONGself how I suck so I can get good?

Also, what the slough? I guess it didn't occur to me that it needs management. Research on how and where to take Avy I starts now. Thanks to all you regulars in this thread. You inspire.

Close. Gameboy Zelda video game nostalgia.

I started using video game music because I'm a huge nerd and I got tired of copyright whores putting ads on my channel. Skiing makes me feel like a video game hero anyway.

So apparently Squaw is going to try to stay open throughout the summer, or at least theyre considering it. Mr Wirth said it would be cool if they were able to make it a 16/17/18 winter season.

MAKE TAHOE DEEP AGAIN ~ 2016/17 OFISHUL SNOW/FOOD/WHINE & STOKE THREAD

If you believe Squaw is actually going to stay open all summer, I have a giant village and water park to sell you. Word on the street is they will close in early June and re-open for July 4. Maybe weekends up until then, maybe. Wirth is like Trump and will just say shit he thinks sounds good.

Could easily be a PR gambit a la B2B gondi. Suckiest thing about SkiCo/KSL buying Intrawest is Wirth is probably sticking around a while in the industry, helping to over-develop other resorts. So long old friends. We hardly knew ye...

MAKE TAHOE DEEP AGAIN ~ 2016/17 OFISHUL SNOW/FOOD/WHINE & STOKE THREAD

So the resort that won't spin Solitude on a winter weekday when people are hiking back to Shirley is going to spin lifts in August when no one is there? Riiiiight. It makes zero sense. Mammoth on the other hand could probably pull it off...

That was my first thought too before I had even read past the headline. Just a headline grabber to get some end of season buzz going. By the time May is over this will be forgotten. Wirth the little weasel is just using the Big weasels playbook.

It sure what route they took to get there, but someone put some very aesthetic tracks down the gut of twin peaks on Friday.

I was saying a few days ago that it looks more like a huge Mavericks wave than a little AK face. It is so filled in.

As we've all learned, Squaw can be "open" without running chairs, though I'd love to hear what excuses they could come up with. "The weather is just too good today. If only we had a water park our guests would have something to do".

If they were to offer a spring pass and stay open I might even end my Boycott. back in the day, May skiing @ Squaw in Shorts and parties at the High Camp pool. Is an awesome time.

If that goes down, who gives a shit about the politics

If Squaw does manage to stay open through May you have cheap passes to thank--late spring skiing is the province of passholders, since most folks aren't willing to pay the day rate for the decent hour or two before the mank gets too deep.

I don't see why they wouldn't be open daily through memorial day, they were last year, but other than the 4th of July I have my doubts for the summer. It wouldn't even be good skiing unless they were running the chairlifts at sunrise.

^^^They have that posted on their site. Buy next years pass, ski through the 4th. A number of KW pass holders I know are going that route and changing resorts for next year. Being a coastal dweller, I fear the 80 way too much. Although, I know at least my son and I will buy at least one day pass at Squaw this May. He may request we get there twice.

I heard, and this is just what Ive picked up in lift lines so dont qoute me, but I heard that if you buy a Squaw pass you only get a certain number of "free" spring skiing days.
