Haha, I took the EXACT same picture on Sunday afternoon. After a bunch of bouncing and banging around, I finally took out my phone to prep for a picture, and that spot was the best 3rd-world looking one remaining.

I hadn't been on 88 since late January and it's gotten much, much worse.

The craters in the kirkwood lot are also expedition-swallowing insane. On the one hand I'm looking forward to the snow smoothing out the surface for friday/saturday driving, on the other hand it'll hide a lot of vehicle-eating nightmares.

Schralph, I did notice the repaved sections although I hadn't been up in awhile so I don't know what I'm 'missing' vs January.
You gonna be around this weekend? I'm headed up either Friday evening (good luck with the Spur) or Saturday afternoon, depending on if we hit this trail race we did last year, that's Saturday AM.

Haha...I drive the spur like I'm drunk and its a video game....swerving all over the place. Personally, hugging the skier's right line near the gutter seemed to work well this season.

The Tahoe pics are killing me. In Haines now...been here since Saturday and finally skied yesterday which was damn good. Weather window may be reopen tomorrow until I leave Saturday evening...fingers crossed.

evening corn harvest around Rose Knob on Tuesday was bountiful

Kavanator (the dog) even came out & made money out of Gracie Law's tracks

Spur proper is still in need of paving, but they are pretty much finished up on the west slope down to Silver lake. I drove over this after to take another look at the Chute I tried to find my way into today. I ended skiing some hippy corn waiting for Thunder Bowl to soften. The top never did, but below V tree the corn was sweet.

Any thought from the local touring crowd about tomorrow? I need to meet a plumber some time between 10-2. Any chance some south slopes will be soft in the afternoon? Or is the wind and cold gonna freeze it up?

Hey best of luck getting some fly days. I've done PNH twice. First time I walked into four straight days of the most mind blowing skiing in my life, one down day, then another fly day. That was after they had just had a week of down days. Second trip wasn't so lucky. Thought it would never stop raining. Did more drinking and shooting guns than skiing. Only flew a day and a half. Be rooting for you. Post some pics!

I agree. And the $29 day tix with your pass from a any other resort. One year I was getting them for $19, but that is just too low.

I've asked KW to do the same. They used to have one that went on sale mid March and was good through closing day, when closing day was not so damn early.

Pretty quite in the resort yesterday. I did a few hot laps on 6 and then went out poking around. When I returned at 3:15 to hot lap again, there were actually a bunch of people out ripping the slush. A good half we related to the upcoming contest, but it was nice to see folks having fun in slush.

Great news! The wood has announced they will stay open an extra week until the 23rd!

Oh wait. You meant KIRKwood. Homewood is staying open an extra week. For Kirkwood, it's not an extra week, it's just extra weak.

FUCK YOU VAIL for screwing up what used to be an excellent resort.
You know what else, I'll be at Homewood on closing day and they won't give a flying fuck what's in my backpack. It's been 3 years since I've had a pass to the wood and I will continue to vote with my wallet until the evil overlords are gone.

At first glance, thought it was misty out today. But no, it's a light snow getting pushed around by a blustery wind.
Not sticking though, just wet road at around 6800.

@dad, @oldgoat, and others who made truckee/Tahoe city car mechanic suggestions - thanks! Car is fixed. Went to big bear auto in Tahoe city as they were able to look at it right away. Ended up only being Ignition cable and spark plug.

Rolled over Echo Pass around 3:20 pm today, started turning just past twin bridges, 35 degrees on the pass and snowing moderately hard, but the precip dropped off rolling into the basin

Several inches at KW today. I skied lifts from 1-4 and was able to find smooth cream cheese with each run. Snow has stopped. Stoking the fire, drying off, and about to go hike a lap in my favorite road side attraction.

I think I'll use a slightly more PG version of this on my daily rant. Closing before Homewood. Christ.

I'm gonna see if I can convince any family to join me at Homewood for closing day, or that Saturday. I'd be happy to give anyone but Vail my money. Of course, my family has battered spouse syndrome and will likely re-KW for next year. Our housing situation still makes it the most economical choice.

BTW, anyone want to tour in the morning? Dangberg, RL mini golf or other protected zone?

Stopped snowing up here, but the radar looks intense.

I've got to clean out my cabin on closing weekend and am worried about getting snowed in to a closed resort. What a whacky way to run it.

That is awesome and pretty accurate as a Canadian...
wind gusts up at our rental at Kw feels like it could blow the building down. Tomorrow could be interesting...Junior comp got postponed today as Cirque froze over after yesterday's spring conditions. Probably goes Sat or Sunday but who knows. Snow forecasts look goofy

MAKE TAHOE DEEP AGAIN ~ 2016/17 OFISHUL SNOW/FOOD/WHINE & STOKE THREAD

Came over the Mt Rose summit around 11:00 p.m. from the lake side to Galena. Nuking snow with occasional white outs. Snow level on the Reno side of the summit was down to the sand shed just below sky tavern.

Bummed that Rose has already announced that they will be closed Friday.

That was their slogan last season. They plastered it everywhere. My favorite take was Mark's post on UA titled, "Skiing Has a Soul, This is Where it Waits in Line."
