Nateski, tell us more about your new life in New Jersey? Did you post a thread about this move some time not very long ago?

This story doesn't need to be so short. Big Sky to Big Boulder eh? Fuck that is fucked. Seriously, that is the super fucked.

We might need photos of said new lady friend to justify such a drastic move.

This thread may just be developing the wheels of potential.

I am in the same position. Blown shoulder from mtn biking in the late fall, then complications in Jan/Feb caused no skiing.

I am sacking up and driving to Jay next weekend with a buddy. long drive from mid-atlantic, but should be fun pond skimming party weekend. Plan to be there wed-sun. if you end up going shoot me a PM and we can link up for some turns or some beers. ill be the one at the bar asking for change for a nickel.

I've just left NJ for Bend. I need a job. Had a great job. I'm a geologist, if you know anybody hiring geologists in Bend. If you are in NJ, VT is where you have to ski. Jay Peak is almost like the west, almost. My friend Tom runs ski tours to VT from NJ. Great prices and times. Tell him I sent you. If you are with a group prices are great. If you are alone he will give you a better price than listed, but that means he is putting you up with others. Tell him if are going to party, hit first chair, or both and he will match you with similar people for your condo. He does a nice job. http://www.skithepeaktours.com/

Haha! I was going to say that this doesn't sound as sweet as he thinks it does. They must still be in their "honeymoon" period or he's in complete denial.

Yes, some people love it there. Good on them. I still think the quality of life there is complete shit. Different strokes for different folks.

About to do the same. Moving from western NY to Oregon this summer. I'd almost contend that ski options here are just as bad and as far of a drive as my buddies from NJ.

Ah, the jersey hook. Should be able to hit northern VT areas in like 6.5-7 hours from central jersey, it's a pretty easy but mostly boring drive until you get out of new york. If you're into park riding, boulder will be cheap and close. If you're trying to actually make turns, don't waste your time; head north.

Just come to Magic. While it won't be like last week it's always fun.

Scrounge up pass & ski for free.

"Final Ski Weekend Update: If you're a pass holder at another resort that's closed for the season, come experience Magic for FREE on Saturday. Just show your pass at ticket office for a complimentary ticket. What the hell, it's spring, right?"

If you like Bruce springsteen, big hair, Soprano's location stalking and traffic, then yes. if not the best thing NJ has to offer to skiers is access to at least 4 major metro airports in Newark, JFK, Laguardia and possibly philly. Forget about 7 hour drives and just fly to real destinations. Honestly

If you are going to live in NJ, live by the shore at the end of I-195. I did 20+years in Bucks County, thinking it would be closer to the skiing, with the shore still only an hour away. I did it wrong. The Pocono mountains are less accessible than they seem, and all private property anyway, and not really mountains at all. The shore is pretty much the only place where you can see the horizon. Find the shore neighborhood in your price range. Prices will go up there faster than anywhere. The beach factory has shut down but the people factory is going like hell. All Jersey has to offer is the shore, suburban wasteland, and cities. If you are not going to shore, move to south Philly. Take up dinghy sail boat racing. Somebody is dying for crew. It's free.

Plattikill and Hunter are both open for the weekend. Cornfest with mild portage. snow management and acres will be better @ hunta - vibe and (bumpity) pitch @ Platty.

Possibly closing wknd @ hunta, so the locals will be out in force. Digging up the mtn stash they've been squirreling around the hood all winter. Parties on the hill start about 1pm.

    3hr from your locale

Jeosy - the armpit of merica. pseudo happy in your bubble: best possible outcome - growing up at the beach. the further south, the better (excluding AC). Less materialists.

If you're unfortunate enough to be here - make/take your pile and run. Only stay long enough to accumulate half of what you want and salvage your sanity.

Can't imagine Hunter will be open beyond this weekend. Been looking at the webcams, they really took a beating this week.

1 pm sounds about right. We will be at the overlook off of the right hand side of Huega toasting the end of another season. If you are thirsty, stop on by for a beverage. We've got a giant bottle of Belgian that we are gonna need bodies to get through

Anyone else with a cup is welcome as well...
