ON3P Sale SWEET......Kartel 116 sold out in the length I want, doh (186).

How would the 191 ski length wise compared to the Billy Goat? Would the more progressive mount make it ski a little shorter than similar length BG?

I have the 14/15 186 BG and used to own the 13/14 191. Like both with slight preference for each in different terrain.

My Goldilocks Billy Goat would be a 188.5 haha.

I have both the 191 Billy and 191 Kartel and the Kartel due to size, tip/tail rocker and mount it def skis shorter... If you liked the 191 Billy than you will have zero issues with the 191 Kartel...

IMHO, the 191 Kartel skis shorter than the 191 Billy, except obviously in places where physical space is the issue (e.g., tight chutes).

But the 189 BG is pretty close to your "goldilocks ski," no?

Anyone know why I wouldn't be able to see klauss's video on my phone or work computer? I could go for some big stoke.

But the 189 is really the 191.

Thanks for the info guys. Think I might make the 191 happen.

Anybody on the Front Range have a pair of Kartel 108s they'd let me take for a spin? I have 2014 SFBs for goofing around at the resort and 2nd year Cochises for charging, but I'd like to trim the resort quiver down to 2 pairs, and 1 of the two spots has already been claimed by 186 BGs. I'm in full ON3P fanboy mode after skiing the BGs this past week in Jackson. Hoping the K108 can replace the SFB and Cochise.

I'd hit the LL demo day on the 18th, but I've already got plans to be out of town that weekend.

Love that edit. Great to see someone rage down terrain that I normally merely "make it down."
Does it start out in Rock Garden?

We will have demos in CB the 11th and 25th, as well. If none of those work you can contact our CO rep, Sean and I am sure we could get you out on them in between demos.

    Dear ON3P Community,

Please forgive me, I am a sinner in need of redemption and 189 Billygoats. I may have spoken ill of the magic skis, but this prodigal son is ready to return home.

    Help?

    Your Humble Servant,

    Leavenworth Skier

Been there done that... I bought 191 116 Kartels, 189 98 Wrens and 194 Praxis Qs and had to beat my wife home each time before they were delivered... Was not man enough to man up pre season to tell her...

If you went with the 116s you will totally dig them...!

Is it not man enough to scheme, plan, evade and deal with the consequences? I suggest it is.

I found the 16/17 BG to be fairly dramatically better on hard snow than my 13/14s. I was shocked at how much better it was, actually. It's obviously still no Wren but it was way better than my old ones. If they've improved it even more, awesome. The only thing the 13/14 BG was lacking compared to some competitors was some versatility due to fairly uninspiring hard snow performance - in soft snow it was king.

Was it enough to get me to replace my BGs? No, but I only ski mine on pow days and don't care that much about firm snow performance. But if someone finds themselves on firm snow more often or is daily driving a BG then the improvements are significant. I also think the improvements will be quite helpful for the RES touring skis. I'm really excited about the Steeple 116 and really hoping the blended core works out well enough to at least offer as a custom option.
    Pulling from a while ago...

I'm often in a position to traverse to pow and then hardpack or park lap back to the lift...

So the new 16/17 Kartel or BG would both likely be an improvement for me over the 13/14 191 Goat...at least in that scenario

Just don't really want to part with that ski...

The real question, which I haven't heard verified by non-ON3P-affiliated person, is whether the new BG skis pow as well as the old one. The tip shape doesn't seem as wide as the last one. They increased the rocker for 17.18 (in addition to the asym), so I'm wondering if the 16.17 tip doesn't float quite as well as the previous gen.

Not sure how the new, shorter tail will feel, but one thing I really like about the 191 is how balanced that ski feels. Everyone seems to like the 189, though.
