Seems like some pretty poor decision making by a very experienced guy if it's the same incident. I can't find any further info about it though, anyone know anything?

that's a good point, they have been veeeery deferential to local guide services in not identifying them / their roles in these things. thinking that fatality on whitesnake.

And of the two guys they send out to test the slope, one had turned off his beacon, and the other enters the slope by dropping a small cliff.

Or in case he needed to search for one of his crew when the inevitable happened and one of them got buried?

weird this story creeps up ,a week later... I mentioned it in general discussion then ,because the danger was pretty high still in the backcountry...and this story would be a eye opener for the noobs who never check the forecast. I even mention it to our safety guru, Craig here in SLC,bu the didn't respond either.

Would a Jew jump into a Gas Chamber???? I guess ...No;but skier/boarders jump into some gnarly death days in the backcountry..at least they get buried ,after , or as, they are dying.
