HWY 50 finally opened, got home around 8:00am, was snowing at about 4500 feet when I came over even though it was 34 degrees.

Holy crap Insta base, every line must go now, avy danger withstanding. Wanna ski right up and down Pyramid from twin bridges, no problemo!

This was around 3 or 4 in the afternoon yesterday, you can't make this shit up, every hour or so , this guy would come out in shorts and flip flops to clean the snow off his car with an Umbrella

Crystal Bay & Incline Village areas still being asked to shelter in place due to avalanche warning.

I got an email from our HOA manager that power is still down and no comment from Liberty Utilities on when it will be fixed. Also apparently 89 was closed last night due to a slide that crossed the road. No idea where, however.

    Crazy times...

Power is back in Upper Tyner neighborhood of Incline as of 9:30 a.m. We got about two feet of snow-blower choking cement last night. No rain crust, thankfully.

We shoveled this deck clean less than 24 hours ago:

Sure wish I could post ski photos instead of neighborhood photos though.

Perfect timing for bringing my entire family up to North Lake tomorrow...should be interesting but I'll be at Squaw, Alpine, Squaw, Homewood from Friday respectively. Look for me on KT in the nooks and crannies trying to avoid bay area kooks like myself, ha. Should be interesting on the timing on what opens at the resorts.

Ah, makes sense. Right by where the small sign for the Western States Trail sits Not surprised it would be there.

Ofishul Tahoe forecast Friday 1/13 - Monday 1/16
    Shitstorm of epic proportions
Traffic, heavy at times, frequently not exceeding 1/2 mile per hour, accompanied by high levels of of road rage and confusion, for all elevations above 1500'. Travel is not advised at this time, be prepared for extensive delays and carry enough supplies to survive in your vehicle for days at a time.

If the winds were ripping around Squaw at 100-170 mph, I'm not at all surprised that their accumulated snowfall totals would be lower than a more sheltered place like Northstar. The pics of the Squaw base area (Chamois, Funitel roof) suggest that not everything that fell stuck around.

Or maybe Squaw is slipping in its snowfall total inflation tactics.

pretty rare event to see heavenly atop the leader board. the system tomorrow looks to favor east side resorts also with an inside slider from the east

Also possible resorts on the crest haven't been able to access upper mountain to get a total at the top.

Power is on at the bottom of AM. Drove by squaw earlier and it seems like power was on there. The village was a little weird, lights were on but nobody home. Also an employee hauling ass on a snowmobile trough an empty parking lot is something you don't see every day.

I'm pretty sure my brother said he hit 90-something on a sled across one of the Squaw lots at night when he lived in the old ghetto employee housing circa 2008-2009 ish.

Add to that the blackouts and parking is going to be tough to find at lightly plowed turnouts and trailheads. Sitting this one out. Surf looks good this weekend.

Help a jong out - was planning on skiing Kirkwood tomorrow but given the shitshow should I ski Heavely instead? Staying walking distance from the heavenly gondola in SLT. This assumes I can get to SLT tonight from Sacramento.
