On the skiing note, has anyone been around Andesite / Castle after this past storm? Wondering how the coverage is in the trees.
Haven't been there but check out this SAC report.

meanwhile, in other news. the winds screwed up about half of what was good on monday.
it turned out the least affected by far was the same lines we skied monday, just differently

In Tahoe / TRPA timelines FIRE is actually the quickest way from A to B.
I'm cool with this, as long as you Kirkwood Bro Brah's stay away from Heavenly when 88 closes- TahoeBc

That sucks about Homewood. I always enjoyed the old-school feel of that resort. No faux-village, no dog bakeries or sushi restaurants. Just a place to ski. Hopefully they're well insured.

    Bro,
That shot is fucking epic!!! Blow that one up and put it on the mantle or make it a screen saver etc..., but whatever you do, take pride in that shot. Sending it like an OG! Good on yah!

213/Granjero's Chammy TR was one of the best things on the Internet. Honestly I used to go dig that up like every other year as I would get gripped reading it and checking out his solo shots on uber steep faces with massive serac overhangs in late day sun!

My tire guy near grass valley has a set of mounted winter tires, 215-65-15, I think. Mounted on older subi rims. They are lightly used, 9/32 or 10/32 tread left. I think they are generals. They're Studded. They were too big for my 2000 legacy. Probably came off an outback or forrester. $250. You might need to pay him the small bit for installation, idk. Pm me if you want contact info. It's a good deal!

Found a Gopro by the snowmobile area of Mt Rose highway, footage is of a guy sledding with his kid. Doesn't look like a mag but if anyone knows who lost it have them contact me.

Which one? The one about lack of snow or not skiing to town? Man that place looks lame.

Not touring, but I just got a late day lap inbounds at KW. North Gavin and a traverse. Lightly cut up winter pow. I imagine the same line away from a resort would have been money.

Nice first lap of the year with coverage and not with a 5 year old. The 2nd was fun. Waiting for the third.

Leaving the family cozy in the cabin was a good call. Probably should have put on skins and poke around the back 40. Maybe for dawn. Been a while since I watched the sunrise from a snowy peak.

    Thanks Maggs.
    Happy to get all advice.
Some of you will know this Suby - it's Otto Parts' old ski-car. Keeping it in the Family.

Happy New Year to all Maggots!

Anybody looking at forecasts in fantasy range? Some consistency in the models 1/9-12. Looking potentially yuge.

My New Years Resolution should be to never look at weather beyond two days out again.

THIS one (so glad I found it on splitboard forums as I only thought it was posted on the backcountry forum). 213/granjero taking it to such an unbelievable level!!!

Well, I am certainly honored to know that you guys have enjoyed the TR!

It is, however, still lurking on splitboard.com:
    http://splitboard.com/talk/topic/cha...rely-stuck-it/

Edit: Nice one, you found it!

Luckily, I saved that one and a few others. If you enjoyed the forum and the archive of a TON of awesome Sierra (and other) TRs, email Mike (mike@thebackcountry.net) and tell him to make sure to save all the old TRs! Some super duper classics in there that certainly inspired me and many others.
