Last Christmas I bought a friend a bottle of Glenlivet Nadurra that was 114 proof. Shit was unbelievably smooth.

TNKen I've been keeping a bottle of the Breck on hand lately. I like it.

Probably been mentioned already, but Col. E.H. Taylor. The best $40 price point bottle I've had yet. Fantastic.

What I'd give to get my hands on the newly released Eagle Rare 17 (Antique Collection)

    Only 32 barrels selected.

Stocked up on Old Granddad 114 with news it's going away. Have 3 bottles stashed. Trying to figure out what my replacement daily sipper will be, it can't be beat for 25$.

Opened the latest Booker release last week, damn tasty. 'Off your rocker' version. Recommend it to people wanting a good barrel proofer if you can't get Elijah Craig BP.

Also, amazing that this thread starts with Benny saying how he doesn't want to pay 20$ for a pour of Pappy 23 in 2009. My, how times have changed.

I like W.L. Weller as my daily. I preferred the younger special reserve in a double blind tasting, but the 12 is tasty too. It's a wheated bourbon; same as Pappy, just not quite as old and not from such a prime location in the warehouse.

Noticed a decrease in quality of the weller 12 and special antique this year. Had a weller 12 bottle that I purchased several years ago and compared it to a bottle I picked up this fall, and much preferred the older bottle(maybe 3 years old?) My local liquor store has a one bottle per person policy on the special antique, which blows my mind.

    #L'villeproblems.

Eastern TN mags: anyone been to the Liquor Barn lately? Wondering what goodies they may have gotten in for the fall releases or if I should just hit up the Party Source on my way north for the holidays.

Gonna order myself a case of the og114 before the end of the year. Will be sorry to see that one go...

And yeah, Weller has really tightened up. They're limiting us to 2 barrels a year of the regular and this holiday season we were only allocated 6btl each of the 12y and 107 antique. Their supplies must be really slim right now.

Just had a long discusssion with my buddy from Midway, KY over a few pops at the local dive about one of my favorite bourbons in my home bar: Black Maple Hill (blue label and orange label).

I always knew it was KBD sourced juice and most likely Stitzel-Weller older barrels similar (if not the same) to what was going into Pappy at the time as Julian VW III blended it (at least with the blue label) and the orange/red label was a younger but also unknown provenance non-distiller product that followed the blue to keep up with cult demand.

What I didn't know is that in my never ending hunt for the stuff (it disappeared for a few years) is that they brought it back out for retail. In a different bottle. Using bourbon produced in Oregon.

I was excited but my buddy just bought a bottle and said don't waste your money. It's shit.

Somewhere inside me I'm torn between wanting to drink the now-very rare BMH I have left or save it forever admiring it like a shrine to Pappy's long lost twin.

I need to find a new bottle to get into I think.

    $40??? WHERE??????

It's $75 'round these parts (and yes, it's awesome.)

Edit: for the Single barrel, not the Small batch

The Party Source in Northern Kentucky has it for $43 my last check. Same with Capital City Liquors in ATL (when they have it). Same for the Liquor Barn in TN (and they ship if you're in a state that allows)

Yeah. Small batch is $40. Haven't seen the single barrel at Argonaut in Denver yet. Always out.

On a side note. Anyone able to find Elmer T. Lee lately?

I edited. The Small batch is 1/2 the cost of the Single Barrel.

Cruiser, et al - is it just the OG 114 that's been discontinued? BiB will still be around? Stopped in my spot on way home and grabbed a few 114's. They still had a bunch on the shelves, for now.

It hasn't been disco'd but there's some speculation that it will be phased out next year since it's a high proof product that is composed of good material that could be devoted to other lines (like the bib version) that are more popular and profitable. Maybe the rumors won't come to pass, our salesman just said today that he has heard nothing about it, and I'll be stuck with a bunch of it but I'm totally willing to accept that risk.

And yeah, that Taylor single barrel was tits. Not inexpensive but real purty.

I've been working at a friend's distillery. The ten month old whiskey we tried today was rough.

Kind of the problem with new distilleries; not all whiskey needs 12 years on oak, but it needs some time. I've seen a lot of distilleries doing a lot of gins and vodkas to start with so that they can have some cash coming in the door while everything else spends time in barrels.

Yeah we were just checking it out. The three year old stuff is buried behind a bunch of newer barrels. Did a second run on a batch of rum.

Thanks for the info Cruiser. I've seen similar ramblings on other corners of the interwebz as well.

Gonna have to add EH Taylor to the list to try.
