Nice shots banosser, I'd like to hear a little about your technique. I often end up with a lot of out of focus shots when shooting whales. Camera picks up on water in front or back of the subject or I'm just too late.

Beautiful Snow Lake. I was there with what seemed like half of Seattle yesterday. The trail starts from the Alpental parking lot. The lake is on the other side of the ridge across the valley from Alpy.

Thanks sa.. not sure I do anything extraordinary.. my camera (OMDEM5ii) has in body stabilization and so does my lens (300mmF4) and they work very well together... tho it cant do much about boat pitch and roll.. Fortunately orcas usually porpoise 3 or 4 times before diving... I try to focus on them when they first break the surface and then try to anticipate their next surfacing while maintaining that focus and begin shooting as soon as I see them.. often you can see the dorsal phin just break first... I think I was set up for 5 frames per second... It helps to have someone good on the wheel and it really helps if they come up in just the right spot for best lighting and in the view finder.. There were times when others were shooting away and I had no idea were the orcas were... I never got a really good shot of the big male.. and many others were not in perfect focus..

Checked out a crazy event this weekend, the Deadbaby Downhill. A uniquely Georgetown kind of event that mixes industrial punk with bicycle culture. Wished I had a faster lens on hand but I grabbed a few keepers. The first is the winner of the double decker bicycle jousting competition.

Mount Shuksan from Artist Point. This photo was taken probably a five minute walk from the parking lot.

Been off-grid for a bit, and came back up for air today to see a sweet lightning storm over Boston. I of course don't have a tripod with me, so I had to stack a chair on a deck railing to get this.....

Loving my Sony a6000 - the 60D may be for sale soon

We pulled off the side of the road where it went close to the river, waded across some ankle deep water and sat down on a little island here with a growler.
