As a german-American, always liked the GTI.
If I were living in the city doing the daily city commute, a golf R would be a lot of fun trying to lay down rubber during the workday and having pedesterians thinking a Porsche is coming around the corner and seeing a the golf and being confused.
TGR forums cannot handle SkiCougar !
It's impressive how efficient the more recent cayman/boxster line is. low 4 second 0-60 with 3000lbs and close to 300hp requires phenomenal engineering. They look great too, one of the better looking cars I've seen.
315 in the S and 330 in the GTS. Spyder at 375.
I'd have a Boxster every time over a Cayman. Great car.

Cool R.
I was pretty close to buying my cousin's R32, for something around $14k, but ended up with a '99 E320 for $7k. Couldn't deal with just having the 2-doors on the R32. Your new R looks prety fkn sweet-

Thanks... Still digging it. One of the things that's gradually setting in is that there are S5s everywhere out here, and no Rs. I've seen at least six, just this weekend. It also occurred to me, looking inside a pretty new S5 convertible, the new R interior isn't similar to the S5 interior... It IS the S5 interior. Same vents, same start button, same other buttons, better head unit... Obviously, the S5 seats are pretty rad, but I don't just need a chair - I'm looking for a whole car to go with it. Still good with the VW. More pics to come next weekend. The wife and kid still want the Audi, but I bet that lasts until either tries to climb in the back seat.
Could you find a better way to spend $900?

Probably happens when I turned traction control off and drifted this bitch down a back road
That right there is the new tink, tink, tink sound you get to hear until you buy some new shoes for that gal.
I still call it The Jake.
Huh, I thought this was the 10 year old car thread, and ignored it.
I have the "uninspiring" MVI platform 2012 R. You'll love the thing. Only advice is the shops don't see them very often, and forget about the AWD, since they work on Golfs and GTIs all day, so they might forget to change the fluid, etc. in the back. Remind them.

hey, at least it came with a washer for close fitment ?
That's what I was thinking.. Like how the fuck it happened..how funny it had the washer..and HAD the washer made it more functional? I mean I tore this car up back roads..I mean going 100 down the road, drifting it, and racing a Pontiac g6, who could only go straight and couldn't keep up on turns.. Did great! Had the tpms on all times. Pressure was fine. Had a compressor in the back as needed..wasn't.. So hey
