I don't think all cops are bad or even a majority. Cops live in fear of losing their livelihood, being harassed or worse if they come forward and do anything but support their "brother" officers. LEOs are fed the same bs about how "dangerous" it is out there as we are, when in fact it's not really dangerous at all. It a culture of silence, fear and denial that needs to change.

What's pissing me off is municipal police departments don't seem to learn anything from these incidents. Incompetence is tolerated because the lawyers settle out of court and the money comes out of the taxpayer's pockets. If this happened at a private company, changes would be made and heads would roll or they'd be out of business. As long as taxpayers are footing the bill for police indiscretion, incompetence will be tolerated and police departments will continue to get a bottomless pit of funding from government since taxpayers have been duped into believing their town or city needs the firepower equivalent of delta force to protect them.

This, and so much more. Funny that they don't want to look at the situation that they created. If anything they should be pissed off at the DA's, prosecutors, judges, bs grand juries and they're own union. They should be pissed off that the system overwhelmingly protects the bad ones. Heck, there are a few out there now where bad cop gets shit canned by the chief (who does not want him back) but the system clears the bad cop of any wrong doing and gets reinstated. All this video now just shows how fucked up the system has been for years. Getting harder to hide all the bullshit and people are tired of eating shit sandwiches every day.

All cops are responsible for individual cop behavior in a way that all black people are not responsible for the behavior of individual black people.

You seem upset about people calling for more accountability of LEOs and you clearly think that more blacks are killed by cops because they're more likely to be criminals. So what do you think? Yeah, that was the topic du jour but Birdy would rather tell us that since the caregiver is black, it's predictable, understandable and, ultimately, forgivable, that he got shot while in a state of abject surrender. He's part of a murderous group otherwise known as black folks and cops need to have the safety off whenever they interact with one of these potential killers. Cops apparently need to have assault rifles pointed when dealing with a man-child and his nurse because black folks are very scary and unpredictable. I appreciate you're (mostly) on the right side of this argument, but even your statement above is problematic. You're still accepting the assumption that black americans actually commit more crime than white americans. I don't believe that's true. For a few reasons.

Generally a higher percentage of black people are poor than are white people. Poor people have the opportunity to commit different types of crimes than white people.


These types of crimes tend to be the types of crimes that our system is set up to combat. (Property theft, such as shoplifting. Use of "street" drugs. Assault. Drunk and disorderly, etc...).

White people generally are better off financially and have their drugs delivered to their condo, where they can use in a police free environment. (Interestingly enough the runner and dealer are more likely to be people of color that are poor, and are the people that get caught in these scenarios). White people use just as many drugs as black people. They just don't get caught, and not just because they tend to use in environments where they won't get caught, but also because an officer is much less likely to search a 2015 Mercedes driven by a white guy in a suit for cocaine than he is a 1996 Pontiac driven by a black dude wearing a hoody and low slung jeans for crack.

When black kids get caught shoplifting, the police are called, and the kids are used as an example of how black kids get down the wrong path early on. On the other hand, when I, a white kid, got caught for shoplifting the store manager called my parents and came up with a fitting punishment and used it as a "lesson". (This is an example of my white privilege, btw).

When white adults steal it usually has something to do with stocks or shady business deals, and they rarely if ever are prosecuted for it.

Blacks do not commit more crime than whites. Blacks are caught, arrested, and prosecuted more than whites.

Most all of my high school friends shoplifted or used drugs at some point when we were young. None of us were arrested when we were caught. If we were all black, that would simply not be the case.

In short, don't buy in to the nonsense that blacks commit more crime than whites. It's not true. They just commit different types of crime and are more likely to get caught.
