My good, close, personal friend Richard Hammond posted this to Facebook today:

Right, well, that saves us the bother of thinking up a clever way to unveil our new show's logo: It has leaked. Not in the way my Landie leaks oil or James May leaks if he laughs or goes on a trampoline, I mean leaks as in the secret is out.
Serves us right for trying to secure a European trademark. All things European proving a little tricky this week.

Damn. That was quick. Joey LeBlanc has been enjoyable.

Just bring on the Grand Tour already.

Scientists now have decisive molecular evidence that humans and chimpanzees once had a common momma and that this lineage had previously split from monkeys.

I caught the BBC topgear the other night for the first time, it was unwatchable. Maybe 10 mins of it and I turned the channel. The Evans guy was the worst!

I watched the most recent episode and saw a commercial for this and thought, "how many car shows does it take to replace Clarkson, Hammond, and May?"

Three. The answer is three: Top Gear, Extra Gear, and now Chris Harris on Cars. Crazy.

I like him, the way he describes cars and I've felt that he doesn't get enough time on the new TG. Too many hosts not enough screen time. I'd be happy if next season it was just LeBlanc, Harris and Rory Reid... maybe Sabine on a pop-in basis too. LeBlanc's review of the 911R was the best segment of the season.

I thought she was almost as bad as Evans..

    Agreed.

I'm still scratching my head about how they managed to so waste the fact they got Jenson Button Driving a Mclaren on their track (the track which Mclaren use to develop their cars) and managed to edit it down to only a few brief moments... worst moment of season.

Almost... on Sabine. I think I just like seeing a woman drive well. She doesn't have to speak in my version of how the show should be.

Yeah, I don't know how they edit so many segments that involve... ya know, driving! into 30 second clips.

Anyone seen this? Apparently the trio has launched a website/forum of sorts and are seeking 'leaders' for each individual category/sub-forum. Someone from here needs to sign up so we can bring our little brand of debauchery into another corner of the interwebs. Maybe upside down Honda Pilot enthusiasts?

That sure would turn the show on its head.

Here's What Happened At The Grand Tour's Epic Launch Taping

It was like Mad Max meets the Pebble Beach Concours, on crack.

I'm sort of reliably informed that it was last minute anti piracy change to bring it forward.

Jacked. I need to get out of this fucking office, pour some rye and tune in.

Not the thread for it, but I am really liking Jay Leno's garage. I would have never thought I could stand the guy, but he's informed, humble, has some cool segments and frankly just loves cars, but not in an elitist way at all. That story about his brother and his favorite british sports car was pretty genuine.

I'll wait till tomorrow to discuss specifics to allow anyone who wants to tune in without spoilers. I will say that they addressed the format very well

Ok, can we discuss it now?

Personally I thought it was great and will only get better. I actually laughed out loud at several points which is a good sign. I look forward to them improving on The News segment (maybe with more Dacia Sandero).

Sure there are some kinks but they will definitely work themselves out.

Not sure how much I like Skinner being the new Stig. All I know of him is from a hillbilly fraternity brother of mine yelling at the tv screen one day watching NASCAR as a car burned shouting, "SKINNER's ON FIRE! GET OUTTA THERE SKINNER!!"

The production quality looks top notch as usual.

The intro from London was funny but I'm torn on the new song.

The chemistry is still all there. Production and cinematography is still absolutely fantastic. Intro was totally fitting with the whole spirit of 'moving on...' Welcome back boys.

The self depreciating segment intro's--yeah. They'll need to work on that. The first one was funny, the second one was funny because you pitied them. That shouldn't make the second episode. Very curious how they're going to play with the mobile circus tent in foreign lands. The Air Force bit was entertaining.

And that holy trinity of hybrid supercars. Holy shit. I'm amazed they pulled that off, since they couldn't do it with the BBC's backing. That goes to show you who actually has the power here since last year they couldn't get Mclaren, Ferrari and Porsche to agree to anything. Results were surprising as well.

I like the new track. I want to see the old lady from 'Old Lady's House' wave them down during a test and take a lap. I will miss star in a reasonably priced car. That brought some good entertainment value and demonstrated that cars are hard to drive fast. Also miss the stig, but a F-1 driver speaking in a foreign language with captions by Clarkson is almost as good.

RIP Top Gear, you are now irrelevant.
I've concluded that DJSapp was never DJSapp, and Not DJSapp is also not DJSapp, so that means he's telling the truth now and he was lying before.

How about Jeremy's face at the end of the first drag race. I do not think that bit was scripted. Some of the tent segments seemed a bit uncomfortable and apparently scripted. But good enough to keep me coming back for the next 11 weeks
