Ha, I feel ya. I took the car up for a run in the North GA mountains yesterday around some absolutely fantastic roads by Desoto Falls. I fell in line with about 5 other Porsches and we were all doing a pretty good clip - definitely keep your wits sharp territory. Then on an uphill when another lane opened up for passing our line slid into the right doing about 55-60 (mind you it's very twisty) and here comes this black with orange trim 997 GT-3 doing Mach-looney right past the entire group. He was gone before you could blink your eye.

Definitely a fast car with a very capable driver. Cool to see. I gave up any dreams of becoming a gentleman-racer at that moment.

I never wanted a GT2 RS more in my life than I did at that moment.

I bet the road up Ceaser's Head would be fun. Been up in by bike many, many times.

Hell yes, Raven Cliff Falls, right? Pretty much just tooled around the entire Helen/Cleveland/Brasstown Bald area all day. So many great roads. You bikers are nuts how fast you take those roads!

    RUF

The SCR 4.2 has a curb weight of just 2646 lb with a roll cage thanks to its carbon body shell as well as its carbon hood, front fenders, door panels and engine lid. A car this light doesn't really need huge power, but RUF gave it huge power anyway. A naturally aspirated, 4.2-liter water-cooled flat-six makes 525 hp with a screaming 8500-rpm redline and power is sent to a 6-speed manual transmission.

    different, gt3 based RUF ducktail

Just a few bolt ons for the 930.

Anyone need a F50, Enzo or 599 GTO?

    First $7M takes it all.

    Also got this new arrival.

As long as Top Gear doesn't go down in flames.

    Chris Evans needs to go.

He signed up to present new Top Gear. I'm sure his own youtube stuff was restricted in that contract now he's doing online video through them in addition to the TV show well until it gets cancelled.

Youtube vids available are so much better, you just have to dig around. Read this Tavarish/Jalopnik sophomoric critique of the mass mkt shows the other day, makes a good point or two.

Lightning in a bottle is the phrase that describes the ability to capture something truly unique. It also means that the person capturing that certain something has no goddamn clue how to make it happen again. This is inherently the problem with network executives - instead of having new genres and concepts pop up and take chances, the knowledge that we as a public are creatures of habit means that just like toddlers who want to see a never-ending marathon of Wow Wow Wubbzy, we’ll binge watch something we moderately tolerate because it hits all those same pleasure centers, if only just.

It's unfortunate that Porsche didn't build a couple thousand of these.

And a 250 GT LM for good measure.

I almost lost all faith in the U.S.'s ability to build a proper performance sedan. I would seriously consider either of these as a sleeper family sedan.

Chevy SS - $47k, 415 hp with a six speed stick, they can be had lightly used in mid 30s:

The SS is an Australian designed car, its been sold down there as a Holden / HSV SS for many years. GM owns Holden.

    Is the Fusion euro-designed?

2004 marked the return of American performance sedan(s) imo. Proper F/R V8 manual configuration with balllllllls for the time.

I had one of those in high school. Well, not a Vespa, but a Piaggio. It even had a racing stripe, LOL.

No, I think this whole manly-men-don't-drive-little-sports-cars thing is a recent development, and a completely ridiculous one at that. Perhaps it's the fault of the Miata, which was so reliable from Day One that no greasy hands were required for happy ownership. I'm personally inclined to blame that trio of German two-seaters that showed up shortly afterwards. The Z3, Boxster, and especially the SLK had such tremendous appeal to women that it got to the point that you couldn't find a man who would admit to owning one.

Jay Leno's Garage. Herbie Hancock's AC Cobra story is fucking amazing. He may be the coolest dude on the planet.
