My kid (8) has had several lessons, all from the same person (who he liked, and learned well from the first time), typically one lesson per season. I give him suggestions and technique tips here and there, but I try to keep it limited, as he has somewhat of a bias against taking advice from me. I try to stick to one tip, if anything, per ski day (e.g. upper body into the fall line, or stop gripping your poles like that already).

just turned my daughter's seasonal rentals in on Sunday. Sort of sad. She's 5 and by the end of the season was skiing blues, so I'm pretty stoked on that. I do want to keep her fired up about skiing and that seemed to lag at times this year. She's super competitive, so I was thinking maybe she'd like racing. But of course she's so young, and I know nothing about kids ski racing.

3rd in the IFSA North American Junior Champs. The best 55 15-18 year-old men in the country were invited. Came out 6th overall for the season too. Not a bad way to close out the junior career. Super proud of him.
As you should be. That's amazing!

grown, but still my kid. He graduates from college this Saturday. He's been hiking Stowe for turns, brings a grill, beers, important stuff. Great kid, that I'm really proud of.

The grown kids is definitely "kid stoke" for those of us with little ones.

When i tell you it goes fast...and accelerates, it's no joke. Keep them skiing. That's what keeps them close. I was speaking with my cousin about her son that was a decent sax player but stopped playing before he was in a band with his friends. We drew the analogy to skiing, in that if your kids stick with skiing long enough to take off with their friends, they'll be hooked.

Mine is a little too young yet. BUt at 15 months, an overzealous daddy took little Rainier out for some runs. He smiled and cooed a bit, so i didn't ruin it for him.

I demoed the TECH TALK JONG! pro model this spring and their performance was unparalleled which is good because I ski in a wedge most of the time - bendtheski, 2011

This. Can't even tell you how fast the last 20 years went, and 20 years ago it seemed like it would be an eternity. The skiing has been an enormous cornerstone to the relationshipI have with my sons, perhaps more than anything else in our lives.

when my oldest went to school we had dinner the night before he left. I told him I was really going to miss him, but there were lots of dads and kids sitting across from each other that night that were seated across from a stranger, and that wasn't us. We left nothing on the table. The time on the hill, the car, the lodge, all the trips to visit family in Utah are what forged our relationship.

That's why you coach your kids team if you have time. Play golf with them. And when they learn to drive, always put them behind the wheel. They really open up in that scenario and you'll learn something.

The key for us has been me hiking the day before with as much gear as I can carry so their packs aren't so heavy.

I've been lacking on throwing up some kid stoke...but that's because kid #3 arrives any day between now and next week. So yeah, I'll be on this thread for quite awhile

The 7 year old has cleared a hump and now is comfortable skiing down almost anything, which is rad because now him and I can explore. The 4 year old turns 5 next week but she's carving and super comfortable skiing all over. Throughout the year, I've thrown up some video of them embedded in my pov vids as well. I'd love to take them to Mammoth for a few days but don't think mom will like being abandoned with a newborn. However, the son and I are booked for a mid-August NZ trip for a week of turns.

Here are some shots from end of February through early April:

ID:	182293Not to be outdone, if you think it's great to ski with your kids (which it is) just wait until you ski with your Grandaughter. I had two boys so having a girl to ski with is awesome, especially when as a seven year old she rips all over Alta. I posted a picture of her skiing pow at Alta after hiking into Catherine's. Here is a picture of her hiking in with her Bop Bop

We are part of the jelly belly crew. And the year of the wedge was a fucking blast. We just hit up Squaw. My guy just loves exploring now and trying to ride every lift. Of course, we downloaded on the Funitel mid day just go ride up the tram. Not my usual use of time, but he loved the ride and view.
