first gen american- my dad worked in a factory for 35 years, and I have had the pleasure of wearing a uniform for work - lol - and fucked my back and neck up doing it

my kids when mature will score in the 20s. Isn't that the natural progression of things?

the test isn't about now, it's more about how you grew up

    46. Why can't I know that Jimmy Johnson is the name of a NASCAR driver and the coach of the Dallas Cowboys at the same time?

Interesting. The bar graph shows a classic barbell distribution.

I scored 49 notwithstanding that I marked none of those blue collar restaurants, TV shows and movies.

My old man was a high school dropout but Ma got a masters degree while raising 6 kids.

I've had 2 pickup trucks, lived under the poverty line at least 4 years of my adult life, hitchhiked >20,000 miles when in my 20's.

I get where the test is going. In my work and through an ex-GF I've rubbed elbows with plenty o' people who would have scored 10 or less. And, yeah, living "in a bubble" is an apt way to describe them.

That was in spite of having never eaten at any of the restaurants, seen any of those movies and only one television show on the list on Netflix. My dad was a logger and carpenter and my mom a secretary. I have no political affiliation. I did serve in the military. I have friends that I don't agree with politically. I live in a small city remote from a large metro in a solid working class neighborhood.

Maybe I'm just more open minded and plebeian than you in your bubble. I don't see that as bad.

The second part of the question was designed to test spelling acumen. Jimmie Johnson is the NASCAR driver. The former NFL coach spells his name "Jimmy."

Grew up in a privileged SoCal coastall town, my folks had advanced degrees, lived in a couple of small, rough-ass logging and oil towns when I was working as a fed firefighter, had a couple of pickups, hitchhiked all over the place during a certain time, wore uniforms fighting fire and patrolling, and I live in a nice neighborhood in a town that has its swanky side. I thought maybe Jimmie Johnson was a sandwich chain but I wasn't sure.

The thing is, I kind of like living in a bubble. I've been in the bubble and out, and after a while, it's nicer in the bubble. I know it's a bubble, and I think I'm pretty aware of what's outside the bubble, but I like things like a peaceful atmosphere, educated people (to the extent that I like people at all), and nice food and drink. I don't have to live outside the bubble, and I wouldn't take any pride in it if I did.

I had to ride on a bus for > 50 miles (though it was to get back to the airport on a trip I was taking for pleasure)

edit: oh I missed your sly wordplay

55 - 10 years of poverty in Aspen and 25 years living in a neighborhood with no college degrees. I only have two neighbors, one mobster and telecom tycoon.
I just did a sales road trip through the south, were I was on factory floors and ate at Waffle House multiple times.

Which bubble are they trying to classify? My early bubble was in small lumber town with little college education around me and what most would classify as redneck. My current bubble is middle America upper middle/lower upper income levels with diversity of thought and race. 1st bubble wonders why the man is holding them down, 2nd bubble wonders why people can't help themselves.

Doesn't everyone live in a bubble? Just different versions?

43... It reminds me of when George Bush, Sr was at the grocery store for a photo op and was absolutely amazed by the scanner. Like where the fuck have you been?!

Obviously it's to see how removed you are from the majority... not that there's anything wrong with that. I live in a very well insulated town, but enjoy going out to grittier and unpretentious places.... like Magic Mountain. Last weekend, I even went to wedding at a super pretentious university club, but with a bunch of non-ivy mobsters. (No, not Iceman's son's wedding.) Was completely out of my comfort zone, but good to be challenged for a few hours every year....

    50. I'm so average it hurts. And the Jimmie Johnson question threw me for a loop at first. Luckily I chose the NASCAR driver so I'm covered on the minor spelling difference

    42. Of course I live in a bubble, most of us do. I live in a small mountain town, it doesn't get more bubbly than that. I like my bubble.

Amazing. I find myself agreeing with dd, I think. Murray is a crank. The quiz is arbitrary and slanted, much like his many booklong analyses. I mean, c'mon "the stereotype of the overeducated elitest snob" from Q#17 is pretty much giving away his perspective. This, coming from a committed eugenicist.
