I'd love to see a pic of the coverage...you know...for my annual June/July one day pilgrimage

For a corn day that never popped, Saturday was really fun. There was about 2-3" of windbuff on top of really edgeable windpack on really north facing bowls that was good enough for four laps

Skied an area of round top I named "cliffs of insanity bowls" because I don't know the real name.

C-love on the approach in front of the epoynmous cliffs of insanity

    Kb drops in

    Stoke is high

    Coverage is also high

We dropped down the backside of Round Top on Saturday with pretty low expectations but the snow softened up a few turns in and lead to a nice run down to the creek where we drooled over Deadwood then slogged up and skied the same sisters line pictured above (which was great). I'll try and get pics up tonight, coverage down to the creek was good, some deep texturing 1/2 down that lasted for a few hundred feet. Wow the front side coverage is GOOOOD
Like I told my last wife, I never drive faster than I can see, besides it's all in the reflexes.

From Reno tahoe forecaster discussion this afternoon:

More unsettled weather is possible later in the weekend and early
next week as a colder and wetter low pressure is projected to move
south from the Pacific Northwest to the Great Basin. Forecast
confidence is lower for Sunday-Monday due to timing differences among
the medium range guidance sources. Some scenarios bring precipitation
as soon as Sunday, but others hold off the better shower chances
until Monday. At this time, we are limiting precipitation to areas
north of Susanville-Gerlach on Sunday, then spreading south across
the remainder of the region by Monday with cooler temperatures.
Anyone planning outdoor activity including Easter-related events
should keep posted on the latest forecasts, especially if the faster
storm track scenario becomes more likely. MJD

So, maybe more snow next weekendish? yay!

Anyone going to be at Alpine on Thursday? In town Wed - Friday with my daughter during spring break and looking at houses around Truckee. Skiing with her on Wed and Friday but Thursday she's doing ski school so I'm free to play on my own. PM me.

I'll be there Thu-Sun for Far West Championships kid ski races, but I'll be race dad guy. Rehab from busted ribs so I'm not hitting it hard. Just cruising if skiing at all. Maybe swing by the race on Friday with her?

Sure. I just realized I have a friend who's going to be there for the same reason as you. The whole race kids thing is quite the commitment if you aren't local, or so it sounds like.

It's a commitment even if you are a local.

Oh for sure. I guess what I meant is, my buddy does the race thing with two kids commuting up from Los Gatos every weekend. That sounds insane to me. He's definitely burning out!

Yeah I work at the mountain so it's easier for me, but we also do a lot of traveling to races. Not complaining one bit. We enjoy it it. But it's challenging.

Yeah, it is. I've been able to get most of the gear second hand for cheap, but everything else is $$$. Also, one misses powder days so that one can cheer for 15 seconds and then become a hot-chocolate lackey. (Ski racing is a terrible, terrible spectator sport.) We'll probably do Tahoe League one more year before moving to Far West, which is going to be a PITA. But it's great for the kids and mine love it.

Good luck to Owen, next weekend!

Will be up there to ski the 27th thru the 31st. Any such thing as a Buddy Pass like Mammoth does floating around out there? I am staying right next to the Heav, but I am happy to drive for a hookup and will reciprocate with Mammoth Buddy Passes, beer, weed. Thanks

Never in U.S. history has the public chosen leadership this malevolent. The moral clarity of their decision is crystalline, particularly knowing how Trump will regard his slim margin as a “mandate” to do his worst. We’ve learned something about America that we didn’t know, or perhaps didn’t believe, and it’ll forever color our individual judgments of who and what we are.

You could do the right thing and come up tomorrow for west shore. All runs down to emigrant lake untouched as of 2:30. Cali chute looks nice. Pipeline is flush. Stove pipe looks fun ish.

You're welcome to one of my Diamond Peak buddy passes if I'm around. Also, you should probably ski somewhere other than Diamond Peak.

Rose does 2 fer Tues. Easy enough to walk up and find someone else at the window. Cheaper than the $59 Buddy Passes the passholders get.
