The Japanese car scene is so weird. I love the RWB 911s. I can't wait to visit.

Same with China. I have exported quite a few cars there, and the car scene is exploding.

This video is sick! Biker chick is hot.

People still look to be stimulated by cars

Help me out here!! I just spent the last 20 minutes trying to figure that car...to no avail. What is it????? I know what it's not now: it's not a Maserati convertible....it's not one of those new Ferrari Californias or new version Superamerica (it's better looking than both of those)...has the back end sort of of a BMW Z3 roadster but nothing else...doesn't seem an Aston Martin roadster. The grill and headlight treatment throws me off!!!

OK..I give up! What is it??

(An AWD front engined car won a race that year) I guess you have to dig deeper than I want to now, but, I guess he didn't think a 12 cylinder was appropriate for the new car, or just couldn't do both mid engined and a new engine at the same time. The Dino was a later 60s project, and he had developed many good 12 cylinder engines for both street and racing by that time. Some think that was the key to the Ford sweeps at Lemans against him. Good old reliable Murican V8 vs that funny Italian stuff. Maybe.

I had totally forgotten that Von Trips was killed at the Italian GP in 61. Must be the scenario that the movie Grand Prix refers to.

edit: Here's a pic in the museum from the other thread.

Note the Dino in the upper left corner. That was in a corner of the room I called "The Ferraris that weren't Ferraris" The Dino is the most well known (yes, not a dancing horse to be seen), but there were also two other "brands" of attempts at cheaper road cars but still with a connection to the old man, all the engine (a small 4-6 cylinder) and some engineering. I forget their names, never heard of them before.

I always found it interesting that he would name such a car after his lost son. What was he saying? That he, his son, wasn't really a Ferrari? Or, he had much bigger plans for a new division, and that logo would go on to be as loved as his own? I'll bet you could find some material at the museum to at least elaborate.
Lol...how can I pay attention to that Dino with that drop-dead GORGEOUS silver Ferrari coupe looking so Ferrari-sexual in the first half of pic??? What model Ferrari is that?? She's a svelte beauty!

And SILVER!! My favorite color for a vintage sports car ever since I saw my neighbor's 1955 Mercedes 300sl coupe in his driveway as a little boy! Silver with a red leather interior - I'll always remember that particular car!

    You've never seen a Z8?

Or the slower Alpina. These things are listing for 300+

I dont' get it. Now selling for 3X MSRP for a car that was generally panned. M5 engine. Limited production. That's the good. Alpina version is dumbed down. Handling sucked. That's the bad.

Guess I'll never predict what will be hot and what won't be.

I'm with you... thought it was an ok design that doesn't seem like it's aged well. Hardly timeless... reeks of early 2000's styling queues. I guess people are into that sort of thing these days...

I was looking at that site that BD posted and about shit my pants when I saw the '91 Dodge Stealth going for 40k. Why not?

To be fair, that Stealth only has 948 miles and its a manual. So I would totally go 8-9k on it.

I hate the Z8, but so did everyone else, so there are not many of them. Now it's a 300k car.

Hey BD. I've got a bud who's betting that 928's will ride the collectable porsche wave. Tracking them down in the northeast and refurbing. He's got a dozen or so. What's your take.

I'd say any manual older Porsche will eventually start to appreciate. That's a older Porsche that can be had for relatively little money. Will it do what 993 Turbos are doing? Probably not.

I'd spend my money on a 996 Turbo, which is free of IMS issues, and still reasonable. 914s are quirky enough to start bringing more money down the road.

The quick big money is getting MSRP deals on the high end shit. I wish I would have signed up for a 918. Marshall Goldman has got his marked up about 850k. Cold as shit when they were being marketed. Everyone thought 918 would shit the bed.

GT4s are bringing 50k over, and that was only 110k car. GT3RS... fuggedaboutit,

This fucked up bubble has to stop at some point though, and personally I'm not going to be holding the bag on lot full of cars.

You in the guitar market at all? Same thing happened leading up to '08. Google for the "bad coconuts" Les Paul. That $5k-ish piece of shit guitar was on the market for the better part of $150k prior to the collapse.
