REI closing for black friday is really fucking impressive. That takes big balls in the business retail world.

Have to check their announcement, but I believe that they are booking online orders on Saturday. They are definitely not saving any $$ by being closed. Sales $ pay for labor+ easily on that day.
edit- it's actually a paid holiday for the employees. So, they're saving on the utility bill![]()

I'd be much more impressed if this thread was anywhere near half as long as the Shit That Annoys You thread. You could argue that 3/4's of the other threads or even the Special Collection of junk thread is this thread's grand daddy. Clearly all of that shit impresses us. With the exception of one particular GIF.
"One season per year, the gods open the skies, and releases a white, fluffy, pillow on top of the most forbidding mountain landscapes, allowing people to travel over them with ease and relative abandonment of concern for safety. It's incredible."
How consistently firewood dried to the regional minimum equilibrium moisture content burns. Quick start up, no smoke from the stack, and steady heat without futzing with the air control. Went 11 hours with plenty of hot coals for a reload on a few aspen splits and 3 chunks of apple. Modern wood heaters are pretty impressive tools.

Also, olive tapenade.
Rather impressive legato and rasgueado...
There's an impressive amount of mercury bioaccumulated in ahi large enough to make a 2" thick filet.
"Children under six, as well as women who are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, are the most vulnerable to mercury's harmful effects. They should restrict or eliminate certain fish from their diet, including ahi or bigeye tuna, tilefish, swordfish, shark, king mackerel, marlin, orange roughy and fish caught in any waters that are subject to a mercury advisory. Women with elevated mercury levels should ideally begin avoiding or restricting their consumption of mercury-laden fish as much as a year before they become pregnant."

Black holes.
The ones in space are pretty impressive too.
5 pages about sub forums. I didn't think that could go beyond one post. Very impressive in an unimpressive way.
Jean envy?
That too.

This gopro spherical thing is pretty cool how you can just move around for different views. Maybe it's already been posted in here somewhere...but I haven't seen it...or looked.
It's definitely interesting depending on the browser you are using...it's all f'd up on certain ones that cannot support the technology yet.
Thanks man, total teamwork, not all me. I was seriously impressed by the timber framer's mad skills... maybe 300 hand cut joints and they all fit tight. Only the hip rafter needed minor fudging and that one beam had close to a dozen cuts.
Brendan's in yellow setting it just so:
This one bent is 70' long and was hand hoisted by maybe 50 people?:
