Gear Guide and the Great Ski Debate... WWMD?

Ok, got the gear guide (pmag) and spent alot of the last few days on the toilet reading the reviews.

The wife ok'd the idea of me getting new sticks, if I could keep it in a budget. So, I decided to go cheap and get some new park skis for the area and skiing bumps. The obvious choice was the K2 Fujative (ideal size, width and most of all, PRICE - msrp $375).

    BUT....

Today I was down at my friend's shop (they only sell XC, skate and tele gear, no alpine) and he said I could use their proform/shop form to get gear. The only two alpine brands they can get, (due to their affiliation with the XC & Tele side of these companies) is Fischer and Salomon.

So now I'm looking at being able to get the Teneighty Thruster or possibly the Teneighty Gun for less than I would pay for the K2 Fujative. I don't really want the Teneighty Gun becasue I already have a pair of Pocket Rockets.

OR, there are the Fischer twins and/or the BigStix 106 - "Prohete".

    TO ADD TO THE DEBATE:

They are set up with Karhu, which means they are fair game as well, only I don't know if they can order the Line versions or if I am just stuck with Karhu.

Now I'm all confused. Should I still go for the park ski and use my PR's and AK Lawnchairs for pow (meaning a 90mm waist ski is my biggest ski), or should I redirect and get some big mtn/pow boards and leave a hole in my quiver in the short/park/bumps/small area department?!?!? Currently for park/bumps/etc. I have my old Line Dragons, but these things are a.) 193cm long and b.) about as stiff and bouncy as a wet piece of Wonder Bread. They are toast. Totally worked and thrashed. They would still be ok for rails and park junk, but they just can't really rail all over the moutain any more - they feel like skiing on two pieces of rope.

Now, I've never had a ski wider than what I have now, so going into the 100-plus club is a very enticing opportunity - but I still want a fun, snappy park ski for the majority of my skiing.

WWMD? If you could buy ONE new ski this year, what would it be?

I want to get on this so I can get something ordered....

    My brain hurts.

A casual use of the search function reveals Fujatives ski like crap, according to most non-pow mag reviewers.

How much do you ski, land, or take off switch anyways? (Be honest... )

Right. I though so. May I suggest the Fischer RX-8 as the kind of badass ski that will eat anything vaguely park-ish all over the mountain. You can even jump on them...

You spent how many days on the toilet reading Powder? (not that I really want to know.)

Not having actually skied them or anything, those new Fischers look interesting (Watea, Atua). Chance to demo first?

I'd be looking at the Jak team edition if I was in your position. People skiing on the early versions love them. They're something like 110 underfoot I believe.

    Public Ememy

the PE skis much better & was my favorite all rounder ski last season. This year they inflate to 85mm under foot & are going under 4 billeverwhere!

As for the line karhu go big & fat if you choose, they ski like noodles. Its not like you are getting a fat Bro or BD or stiffer ficher

    Fischer Attua or Watea.
But you like Pocket Rockets and jib sticks so why do you need my advice?

("still want a fun, snappy park ski for the majority of my skiing" - sadly, I think you answered your own question)

Yeah, I was looking at those... I demoed this year's T-Stix at the end of last season, but had to do it in tele boots. I really liked the construction and flex. I would assume that these models are atleast similar to the T-Stix line.

And I should reword my position - the reason I "still want a fun, snappy park ski for the majority of my skiing" is just because of where I live and therefore where I ski. My local hill requires a "fun, snappy park ski" to make it fun becasue it is small, and my next most visited place will be WP/MJ, where I will be skiing alot of bumps with my bump-addicted friend in Ft. Collins. I just figured I'd rather have a park ski than a "bump" ski. I will be able to take a few trips to SLC, but they will be few and far between this season.

You see, I think I am going to go back to school and get a 2nd degree starting in January, therefore I will be stuck mostly skiing the local hill and need to keep it on a budget.

Get powder skis. Use the PR's as an everyday ski.

Seconded... 186cm length, 134/100/125, full twintip, and skis nicely. Same ski (different graphics) as the Line Prophet 100. Get 'em.

Ok, so I'll bring up the old question... if mounting alpines on the Jak, does someone have measurements on these new models to find the mounting point?
